Let them do what thay like YP, as you say let PP deal with it.
What they said in the letter was exactly what Cap One said to me, I ignored it and they actioned my request anyway.
If the calls are getting too much send the telephone harassment letter which is kicking around here somewhere, when I first started out I didn't answer the phone for months!
Thanks Kudox. I wonder why they do it though? What are they hoping to do with my signature? Are they expecting me to start asking for a CCA so they can fiddle it? (Cynical, but probably true!) The more they phone, the more I'm ignoring them really. It was the creditors who left me alone I was happiest to phone. I've had two phone conversations with Egg recently, they have my PP number, I've written a letter since, they have credited my postal order and have been contacted by Payplan, and are *still* phoning me three or four times a day! Urrgh!
JOJ, lovely post and I was just thinking in the last few days what a horrible job it must be to work in those collection centres!
MM, I'm probably not much use as I don't know how mortgage companies work it but I was dreading changing over the DD's too and it all sorted itself out fine in the end. I canceled my DD's as far in advance as I could (think it was about two weeks though) then paid over the phone by debit card for most of them just for that month and they were quite happy. I sent my notification letter to my old bank once my new account was ready.
It's very satisfying tracking those recorded letters!

Hi from another newbie!
I am just getting my DMP sorted through CCCS. They have had all my paperwork, and I am just waiting for them to get back to me. I'm desperate to start the DMP, but really scared of the reaction I'm going to get from my creditors for my token payments this month. Mine are Halifax, Santander, GE Capital and Smile.
It was a weight off just posting the DMP notice letters to them all tbh!Debt at light bulb moment - £15K

Hello and welcome...I've just sent off my DMP notice letters and about to send things to CCCS for my DMP to start in Oct! I know what you mean about being scared but I've found the people on here really really helpful, non judgmental and supportive so you have come to the right place for reassurance and advice!
I've been loitering here for a while (a few months actually!) gathering info before I plucked up the courage to click the 'magic' button on the CCCS website and now I'm due to start my DMP on my birthday! :j
Good luck and I've found just reading through here helps.
As for your creditors it would seem that the treat everyone differently but as many have said on here they can't have what you haven't got and I'm sure someone with a bit more experience will be along to give you more advice soon.
Good Luck and well done!

Hi all - well the time has come! I have my appointment with CCCS later, took the day off work yesterday to go through all my finances and work out exactly what I owed and to whom. It was a pretty miserable day and I don't think I got a wink of sleep last night and my face is puffy from all the tears, but at least I know I'm on the road....
I'm pretty nervous about the appointment with CCCS as I'm not really sure what to expect? Will it just be a "lets chat about your huge massive debt and give you a telling off for being such a numnuts over the years" or will it actually start to throw up some solutions - i.e. go through income/expenditure, work out what I've got left to pay creditors and make suggestions etc? Any advice from anyone on here about this appointment call would be really great.
I'm still not sure what to do about bank account and token payments. I have been paying my monthly payments and missed some for the first time this month. I'm guessing that my DMP would start 1 October, so do I pay my creditors as normal next month, then send the notifications and cancel the DDs from then on? Or should I do it now and get things moving? Help?! It's all so confusing and I really feel a bit like I'm walking through water and not getting anywhere.
I do want to say how wonderful this site is. I haven't told a single soul about any of this so it can feel extremely lonely sometimes, but this site does make you realise that you're not alone, you're not a total failure and that you can be in (mahoosive!) debt and still be a nice, normal, kind person!
Anyway - keep your fingers crossed for me this afternoon. And can I please have a number as I'm definitely on the way now!
Have lovely days everybody.

Hello!!
I have a quick question.
I'm going to start claiming back ppi to try and make a dent in my Lloyds loan. But i'm still paying ppi on quite a few debts, which i'm going to cancel.
Should i cancel the ppi, then put in my claim for it back, or should i claim back then cancel it.
We're in the process now of phoning all of our creditors to get balances to give to payplan so that they can update the justabank balances (which are very far from the real figures), but wasn't sure whether i should cancel the ppi whilst on the phone to them there and then.
Has anyone got any ideas on this?

Hi londonfraggle,
The only advice I can give really is to try and relax. The people at CCCS are lovely and won't give you a telling off. They are there to help you and offer a solution. I did the debt remedy online so haven't actually had the telephone appointment so can't really advise on that but I have had to contact them a couple of times by phone and each time they have been really helpful and supportive.
As for all the questions you have, they will be able to answer those during your appointment. I'd make a list so you don't forget the main things you want to know. If your anything like me, you have questions buzzing round in your head and once someone asks you if you have any questions, your mind goes completely blank LOL.
Good luck for later and let us know how you get on.LBM 22/7/2009

Fraggle,
As Katkins2 says, don't panic.
But the one piece of advice I can give is not to leave anything out of your budget. You don't want to be left short at the end of the day and find you're struggling to meet payments due to something you missed off the budget.
Regarding token payments, pay your creditors the £1 token payments as you would normally pay the minimum payments until you start the DMP. Also cancel Creditor DDs immediately. Personally I didn't tell the creditors about the DMP, I left that to PayPlan... but I know others sent letters with the token payments telling them as much.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi!
Another newbie here. Would love a number please!
My DMP is starting 1st Sep with CCCS. Have had a delay with the welcome pack but I called CCCS today & they've told me the letters have been sent to the creditors and my first payment to them is due next week.
Just waiting for the phone calls & letters to start - dreading it - had no arrears/missed payments don't know what to expect (had an ever-increasing overdraft instead which also needs to be paid off now!).
I've set up a new bank account with a completely different bank so just waiting for my priority debt dd's to be set up on that.
Anything else I should be doing?
Thanks

Mozzyc I would cancel the PPI, in writing, before you start to claim it back. I wouldn't do it over the phone as they could always deny that you had asked to cancel it.
I think it's always best to do stuff in writing really.
Silly Sarah, welcome to this great thread. Sounds to me like you're pretty much doing all you should be at this stage, try not to worry too much about the phone calls, just tell them you're on a DMP with cccs, give them the ref number and leave it at that, don't allow them to bully you on the phone.
Good luck with everything.DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080
