    Hello Peoples!
Just back from my summer hols - 3 x £9-00 nights at various Travelodges; lunches thanks to Tesco clubcard restaurant deals. Hey,hey live life to the max on a DMP! :)
Came back to lovely, polite letter from my 1st creditor of 3 accepting my reduced payment (review in one year) Had NO phone calls so far - so very relieved. Had written several times to 1st creditor expressing my regret, pointing out my previous excellent credit record and my intention to clear debt to the best of my ability. I believe and hope it is a case of 'Do as you would be done by' and with honesty and politeness on my part they have listened to my case.
All this holiday malarky in the rain has turned my brain soggy though. I know credit per se is a total No-No but what if I want to change car/house etc insurance again for better deal? I pay by monthly direct debit so would a credit search take place if I went to new company? Or thinking of opening Tesco savings account (as per this weeks Money Saver e-mail:money:) Again would my credt record by checked? - am getting paranoid now!

I would imagine you're still entitled to go for a better deal, and credit checks shouldn't affect you when changing Insurance.

A savings account may however. I ended up going with Coop (Who I have a cashminder with) when opening a new savings account. Poss better off sticking with same bank?

Haven't been around for a while, getting stuck in trying to take control of things but I've just sat down to go through the months statements and CCCS statement and every single debt has increased. Started off at just under 34k now it's 37k.

Should we be looking at an IVA rather than a DMP? CCCS aren't forth coming with advice to be honest.

how bout phoning National Debtline? they were very helpful to me on a completely unrelated topic yesterday!

I was also reading about DMP, IVA and BR on the payplan site yesterday (i had started to think about worst cases, ie me losing my job) and it has a very good break down of the pros and cons of each. persoanlly I am happiest with my DMP! Fingers crossed I don't need to go to something else!

what you need to do i think is either send letters yourself or get CCCS to try again to get charges and interest stopped! that's what i'd do anyway!

That is scarey! A year already!

    How did the review go?
  • Hi everyone, I wrote yesterday about HSBC not accepting my offer. Well I spoke to them again today and they're refusing to budge as the minimum they can accept is 1% of my balance as a month payment which is £47. I repeatedly told them I couldn't afford that. They said the default will come into force from the 10th August because of that and action will be taken. What happens now with them? Straight to Debt Collectors? MBNA on the other hand have accepted the lower payments for 3 months and then they say we need to beable to pay more than we are now. If I can get a 2nd job this might be realistic. Just depends on what I can get. They've also refunded the charges for this month which is good.
