  • Haven't been around for a while, getting stuck in trying to take control of things but I've just sat down to go through the months statements and CCCS statement and every single debt has increased. Started off at just under 34k now it's 37k.

Should we be looking at an IVA rather than a DMP? CCCS aren't forth coming with advice to be honest.
  • I have 20 creditors!
I was shocked when i realised however 6 are littlewoods catalouges, 3 are with hsbc and the rest are small amounts in comparison to these so i'm hoping they'll accept, cccs said i could be debt free in 3 years if they all freeze the interest.
My baby son is 6 months old so that'll mean i will be debt free when he starts school! thats my motivation!
I personally think to pay back 25, 000 in 3 years is a good effort? Just hope creditors agree.

IVA are not suitable for a hell of a lot of people. Think if you search the mine site that Martin did a bit about them. I personally would never go for it I wouldn't want to risk my home. If you don't own your home then bankrupcy would be a better option. I appreciate it takes time to pay a DMP but I don't want any slimey creditors getting their hands on my home - 5 years of hard fought mortgage payments its mine!

I agree certainly wish I was capable of that! Sounds very good.

Hi there, maybe I'm having a wobbly day anyway as I'm about to send off m DMP application tomorrow - rang up NDL to check a couple of last bits and the woman there starting questioning why I was doing a DMP and not an IVA! I've just got my head round what I'm doing and convinced myself I was making the right decison, now I'm all over the place. Everyone I've spoken to so far has been so helpful and laid back so maybe it was bad luck in getting the wrong person, I don't know. Now panicking all over again :(

Just popped over to catch up on the last couple of days of posts. I have had one of my debts sold to Moorcroft. I have asked Moorcroft to send me a CCA as they send me a nasty letter saying that they may take me to court if I did not pay the debt in full.
At the mo I am still waiting for the CCA to come from them and I do my own DMP. I am just wondering if I just pay Moorcroft my monthly installment or should I pay citi (the people who sold the debt onto Moorcroft) for August payment.
Moorcroft have put my account on hold till they get the CCA from citi, to send to me.

I am a little confused now on who I pay :confused:

If you were happy with a DMP then put it down to a staff member who is not as good as the others you have spoken too. If you go on a DMP it keeps your options open you could if it was wise do an IVA later. However, if you were to do an IVA from the start then I believe it doesn't leave much more than bankrupcy if it turned out to be a wrong decision.

I am not too sure on this I would personally set a new topic up asking about it. I have only requested CCA twice, once when two companies were after the same debt and I made none of them and it then turned out none of them could provide a CCA.

The second time was when a DCA refused to find a payment, it would cost me £5 to get a copy of my cheque and only a £1 for a CCA. I did not send any payments and they never produced a CCA for me.

But since then both companies periodically send me communcations and try to get me to pay and I hate not paying them feel there is no closure and it worries me that they will go on forever trying to get me to pay. But I am stubborn and don't want to back down and they send one letter I remind them about the CCA and then they go quiet for another year.

My CCA knowledge is very sketchy.

  • Hi Guys

well my first CCCS payment has been sent to my creditors and so far they all seem to have accepted my DMP , I haven't received any telephone calls or letters from the majority for a while now, that is apart from Citi Cards, who continue to call me two times a day and send constant reminder letters of missed paymens, even though I have sent them letters recorded delivery asking for all contact to be made in writing as well as asking them to reconsider their refusal of my offer.

It is still the best thing I have done and for the first time in years I have seen my debt reduce rather than increase, If I can just get Citi on side I will be a happy man ;)

Good luck to all of the newbies starting a DMP in August.
