    Hi all,

Not posted for a while so thought I'd post an update.
1st payment went to CCCS DMP on 01st July.
1st payment to creditors went out on 25th July.

    To date
MBNA have accepted and stopped charges and interest on 3 credit cards
Capital One have stopped charges and intereset on 1 card
Barclays have terminated both current accounts and passed debt onto recovery agency, who have stopped charges and interest and told me I could make discountd full and final offers in the future (nice to know!!)
A&L say they haven't recieved any paperwork, so I have had to send it again. In the meantime they have stopped all charges and interest.

Truly starting a DMP was the best thing I could have done and wish I'd done it sooner.

Good luck noobs, you'll never regret starting a DMP, don't put it off.
[STRIKE]£67000[/STRIKE] in unsecured debt at LBM June 2009:eek:

I just wanted to say thanks for your post, after much stressing i contacted cccs today an have started applying for a DMP.
Although i'm really stressed about wether my creditors will accept the offers your post made me just bite the bullet and get on with it.
I had a telphone conversation with littlewoods yesterday and they wanted me to do a 3year payment @ 39.9% Apr. I hardly slept for stressing about wether to accept it even though the interest was thousands.:eek:
I finally realised I need to stop creating debt and start paying some off!!
Could anyone please advise me on a good basic bank account for wages to go into and dd's to come out of, am with hsbc but owe them for my loan so have been advised to change banks asap?
    Thanks in advance . xx

You need to make sure that your account won't be related to ANY of your creditors. This is very out of date http://www.payplan.com/debt-library/miscellaneous.php . GE Money, Abbey and Alliance & Leceister are all in one family now. HBOS and Lloyds I believe are the same. But it does give you a small idea of who are in famalies and which DCA they use etc.

Does anyone have a better up to date link for bank accounts now?

Also Littlewoods will pass onto a DCA who do not add interest so you did make a good choice not doing for the 39.9%

    hi..
just wanted to say hi....and to encourage everyone just starting out with their dmps...
i am with cccs who have been really good.i started my dmp about 2 years ago, approx:confused:and after awhile things do settle cos they know you are acknowledging your debts and paying regularly instead of ignoring them.they realise that they cant get any more through harasment so they usually accept your offer.
strangely i think this credit crunch has turned to our dmp advantage.
they realise if we all went b/krupt, they would get nothing back, so they are more prepared to accept an offer of a regular payment against zilch..and now they have loads of ppl in the same boat..we have strength in nos:beer:
thats how i see it anyway...i always try to look on the bright side, cos its free:rotfl:
    best of luck to everyone.

I still remember me in a panic about CCJs (which touch wood never happened!) you said you would meet me at the courts lol. I literally only popped back a day ago. Working in a school now so I have time off for good behaviour. This topic always has the same feel, its made up of good people.

Hubby was not keen on getting our lab - now they are soul mates and its me who gets left out. Currently said cute puppy is in lock down he has dug yet another hole in the drive and is drying out in his crate!

    Hello Peoples!
Just back from my summer hols - 3 x £9-00 nights at various Travelodges; lunches thanks to Tesco clubcard restaurant deals. Hey,hey live life to the max on a DMP! :)
Came back to lovely, polite letter from my 1st creditor of 3 accepting my reduced payment (review in one year) Had NO phone calls so far - so very relieved. Had written several times to 1st creditor expressing my regret, pointing out my previous excellent credit record and my intention to clear debt to the best of my ability. I believe and hope it is a case of 'Do as you would be done by' and with honesty and politeness on my part they have listened to my case.
All this holiday malarky in the rain has turned my brain soggy though. I know credit per se is a total No-No but what if I want to change car/house etc insurance again for better deal? I pay by monthly direct debit so would a credit search take place if I went to new company? Or thinking of opening Tesco savings account (as per this weeks Money Saver e-mail:money:) Again would my credt record by checked? - am getting paranoid now!

I dont know why but i'm really scared of my accounts going to a DCA.
I mean are they likely to let me spread my payments over a few years on a DMP.
Littlewoods told me i'd have to pay a DCA back over 6 months, which is not likely when i owe over 11,000 on littlewoods groups alone. I'm also worried as i've never had problems paying any other creditor and am not in arrears, so i'm a bit nervous about missing payments and changing banks etc?

Everyone is initially worried of debt collectors as we imagine knocks on doors etc but that is for people avoiding contact. You will be wanting to pay and to be honest they are more likely to accept DMP payments than original lenders. Put it this way initially I had 10 accounts, all but 3 went over to DCA and the ones that didn't were Lloyds accounts and it did make me nervous that they would push for a CCJ (they never did) and I think others further into it found themselves wanting creditors to refer to DCA.

It is a very nerve wrecking process just take it step by step if you can't get by day to day then you need this DMP and you are not alone it is getting more and more common.

Just post any little worries as and when and someone will have had a similar experience and be able to answer your query no matter how odd it sounds.
