Afternoon all, hope everyone is well.
Well, ready for "Phase Two" now - my safe account is ready so I can get my DMP application sent off. Just about to send my last Hold Action letters off, to my bank and to M & S card (owned by HSBC) now it's safe to do so. Egg have been ringing and ringing (including once today, the cheek!), both with a number that I traced to them using the Whocallsme website, and just "Unknown", (I'm assuming this is them anyway). Have sent off a second letter, recorded this time, re-iterating the first.
Heard from the Post Office c/card by letter - they said I still had to make the minimum payments and that they could only freeze interest via referring to their "legal department", but aside from that (I wasn't expecting them to fall over themselves to freeze the interest anway) they acknowledged my letter and told me my up to date balance and it was quite pleasantly worded. Deathly silence from everyone else so far, but then I'm up to date on payments until the next minimums are due next week so I suppose it'll start then.
Penny dropped with a great clunk from on high this afternoon - my A & L card that I've had to cut up and send back had quite a bit of credit still left on it! No wonder they were keen to get that back, doh. At least I know they got my letter!
Enjoying reading how people are getting on, less anxious than I was before, hope it stays this way!DMP Mutual Support Thread No 336 - proud to be a number!LBM - June 20th 2009Total of Horror  - [STRIKE]£39,909[/STRIKE] August 2010 £35,421 :jDFD - Feb 2018 (approx). I'll be 47   !!0 -

Glad to see everything is going well for you as well. I remember we started our DMP at the same time and how daunting it all was. Here we are four months down the line and still surviving! :T
Great to hear, were 6 months into it now and everyone is fine with it.

Hey what do I know I'm a newbie too! - but from through trawling all sorts of info (including this site) I know a CCJ is possible but if you are paying all you can reasonably afford no court would impose a greater amount on you.
I don't believe debt collecters would be allowed entry to your home even with a CCJ. I think there is something called a charging order that could be imposed if you did have to go to court, which would only come into effect if the house was sold, so your property is safe. Sure I have oulined the worst scenario and for most people all this doesn't happen.
I am sure someone with much more knowledge and a fully comprehensive answer will come along soon but good luck!
I am only just starting my own DMP but like you have sweated and fretted before going down this route. It took me over three months of exploring and researching all possibles before taking the plunge but you soon start to feel like you're in control of your life.DMP Member 330
Correct, forget any scare tactics about door step collections. IF and thats a very big "IF" they were to turn up, they have no power of entry (unless you leave the door open, or a window open).
To legally remove property, they need to be acting in breach of a court imposed CCJ or as a result of a charging order.. again, as a last resourt (you would be getting court letters long before they would be knocking with a police officer to gain entry.)
Just forget about it. you are 99.99% never gonna see one. Same as Letters from people like Egg saying " a representative will be calling around on Thursday" ... Just be out !!! or leave them standing "IF" anyone were to come knocking but again the chances are very slim.
They also cannot advertise to your neighbours or anyone what they are doing so dont worry about the prospects of a transit van with "Debt recovery" plastered on the sides .. it aint gonna happenLBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

I had fake solicitor letters from Lloyds TSB I affectionaley call the "grey paper" letters, door steps collectors could call - in fact one day when I was alone before I found this site I took a highlighter to one particularly distressing letter and highlighted all the ifs, coulds, and mays, the letter looked very pretty after.
A DMP gets your life balance back instead of I have £50 for the month for food you say I need this to live and this is what I can afford for creditors. It still is a juggling balance for me but that is because I save on the food side and insist on days out or cinema for children etc but at least the struggle benefits my family and not some fat banker!
Definately banging the old boring drum read the national debtlines guide to debt even if you are not going with them it certainly makes you realise what rights you have and what they can and can't do.0
