The sooner you get your defaults the better really, they drop off your credit history after 6 years I believe. Not many of mine actually marked my history as defaulted they sent the letters out but my history is marked as "arrangement to pay". The one default (out of 10 creditors) that got marked now shows a balance of 0 even though I pay a DCA.
the nasty natwest guy even tried to tell me that this wasn't the case!! claiming worse if i let myself get defaulted!! i think i know enough from here and pp to know the guy's an idiot!
Good luck Supersleuth! And yay to the money! I can guarantee that if you read up on this site and read the national debtline guide they have that you will know more about the process than any bank, or DCA worker. And knowledge is power!0

Hi have just got my Payplan pack through.
Hopefully my salary will go into HSBC tonight at midnight.
I will transfer the funds to my new Halifax bank account.
Post off the payplan pack agreeing for PP to approach my creditors.
I will then send out the token payments to the creditors with template letter.
Then I'll wait for PP to contact me so I can set up the Direct debit for my first payment to PP.
Have I missed anything?
I'm genuinely scared and I can't seem to comfort myself in giving myself an aswer as to why...0 -

You were one of the 'gang' who helped reassure me when I was a newbie when I first started on my DMP journey back in May last year. Now I am all clever helping the new people :rotfl:
So glad to have you back :T
Thanks to you and all the other clever people who pass your experiences and reassurance on - we newbies really appreciate your advice :beer:0 -
I am so glad to have found this support group!
I'm a newbie, 34 weeks pregnant and just about to enter into a DMP, I'm afraid I have opted to use a broker rather than go it alone, this is purely due to the pregnancy and the hospital stays i am encountering
I am relieved to be dealing with my debts but I AM ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED, at the moment the phone calls have stopped but i dread the phone calls starting up again when my creditors realise i am not paying their monthly installments next week
I have been advised to open a Co-op Cashbuilder account, am just waiting for the welcome pack
I have a couple of questions which i am praying one of you may be able to reassure me with...
1. NATWEST my biggest creditor, also my mortgage provider, can they or will they repossess our home? or can they tear up my mortgage agreement knowing full well nobody else will give us a mortgage?
2. Can i set up a direct debit from my cashbuilder account with my Natwest Mortgage or will i have to continue paying it out of my natwest current account? running the risk that the money might not reach our mortgage meaning repossession in the longterm?
3. Do I cancel direct debits now? or wait until i can transfer money from natwest account to cashbuilder?
4. Stupidly alll our insurances are with Natwest, will they cancel these or will i be able to set up dd from our new account?
I just wish i could fast forward a year...thank you so much for listening, donna x0 -
Hey guys....please please dont thank us oldies so to speak....the reason we still post is because we remember all to well being at the stage you guys are..we remember the fear,stress,embarasment,hurt,worry,panic....but what we now know is that the dmp was the best thing we did.
I myself cant stress enough that it was the best thing i ever did (bar marrying my hubby and having the kids) it has made such a huge difference to our life, and it has made me a much stronger person, i now question everything instead of beliving the first thing im told, i dare answer back and put my point of view across, this has come across in all parts of my life not just to the creditors.
Im no longer embarrassed by my debt..infact i tell everyone that brings debt up as a subject in coversation so i can tell them about this wonderful site...you would be amazed how many people including close friends have told me they are in debt or are already on a dmp ( 3 couples i know are now or were already with payplan).
Iv realise that everyone gets in a mess sometimes and this is nothing to be ashamed of, we are all human and sometimes want what we cant have...but iv found a way to deal with it and am proud of dealing with it.
Please if you are reading this and not posting as i used to, DONT PANIC it may seem you have no where to go, dont know what to do next, and feel there is no answer...............................YOU DO....the answer is to keep reading make notes about anything relivent to yourself and if you pluckup courage to post ask any questions you have...no question is silly, wrong or unanswerable....we are all here to support and help each other....when you cant see the light shout up and ill change the lightblub!!!!
You all too in a few months will be here with me and the other old timmers advising and helping the newbies...because we care.
Donna

Hiya donnajt...
Natwest is my biggest creditor too...i am not a home owner so cant advise you on that but someone will be along soon who can.
I have the cashminder account as my safe account, you can set up dd and standing orders from it.
As soon as you have a first payment date set up with you dmp company cancel your dd`s, you must try to not use your old accounts at all if they are linked to any of your creditors.
You have said you are with a broker?? If this is a company that are charging you a % for setting up the dmp...run as fast as you can to payplan or cccs...i spent 2 yrs with a fee paying firm and if i had gone with payplan first off i would be 6 months away from being debt free they had over 2k of fees from me!!!!
Payplan have done the same if not better job for me for free.

Please dont worry about lowering payments now and again on the dmp...over my 3.5yrs i have up and downed my payments a few times and have had no problems..including when i lowered the payment by £200 for 2 months, by the time creditors realised payments were lowered and had started to question why my payments had gone up again...and we all have to remember they cant have a penny more than we can afford and if they dont like it TOUGH!
Thanks rang CCCS today and had the review and altered my payment. It is only a small reduction so hopefully all will be ok. That was what the person at CCCS said so was quite reassuring.DMP with PayplanDMP Support number 287Trying to lose lbs and save £££s!0 -
