Weekend 6-7/6/09 What small dfw things have you done this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Good morning all fellow DFWers. I think SM has gone to the country for the weekend so I hope nobody minds me starting the thread.
So this weekend:
- Scratchies
- Curly
- Breakfasts and suppers from what is in
- Going to London today to meet friends I haven't seen in 10 years, will get petrol from cheapest place and get points also checking tyres and try to drive economically
- Tomorrow morning going to Longleat to see Tractor Ted to get best use from our passes
- Hokey Cokey is on its way(quick 30) and drying inside as weather rubbish

Morning All,
Today I hope to have a real bash at sorting things out and more importantly getting things done. So my tasks for today are:
Give Pooch long walk in a mo - then she only needs a short walk tonight;
Sort June's finances out, as overspent last month - had lovely time doing so and now have overdraft to sort out! :mad: ;
Hang up washing in conservatory as rubbish weather here in Devon;
Make butternut & veg soup for lunches;
Make OH birthday meal (his request) creamy chicken & mushroom pasta with homemade garlic bread - just need couple extra ingredients to buy;
Sit down with oldest 2 boys and get homework done;
Drive economically when ferrying middle son to TaeKwonDo grading and friend's party;
Wrap kid's 'money neutral' present - from Nectar points;
Library - exchange books - love this fab free facility
Menu plan for fortnight so have rolling menu for month and am not cooking every day, ie. batch cooking and baking;
Plant spinach seeds, french bean seeds;
Water other fruit & veg plants;
Sort next week's activities (free) for youngest DS and put in diary and not forget them:rolleyes:
Add up savings and update in book;
Seal up properly 'sealed pot' and not touch again :eek:
Bag up coppers & 5p's from money jars to bank on Monday.
Read news online instead of buying paper.
think that'll do

Morning all - hooray, it is Saturday :j:j
Thanks for starting the thread Marru - I had to smile when you mentioned taking your little one to see Tractor Ted - my small grandchildren love the films. My OH actually 'starred' in one a few years ago (the kids especially love this one), and one of our little dogs even had a 'walk-on' part - or rather a sitting-in-a-tractor window part!
Today I have / will:
Not do anything work related :T
Check online banking and move some money to ISA (done)
Sort greenhouse out - plants everywhere :eek:
Go food shopping - try not to spend too much. I am getting better though, my cupboards are not as stuffed as they were :T
Go through fridge and use up small amounts of 'old' things today before starting new things.
Make a fruit pie to use up some stewed apples and odd berries that I got out of the freezer the other day and haven't quite used up.
Make a cake of some description.
Do some housework
Do some ironing :eek: my iron will be amazed to come out of its box so soon after last time
Have a nice day everyone -despite the weather!0 -

Morning All,
Dull and wet here in sunny North Hampshire! – need stripy socks to brighten up my day!
Marru – enjoy London
Urg – hope your mum has a lovely time
Today I have/will
• Checked lottery – nothing (oh well)
• Checked banking and moved money
• Updated spreadsheet (everything now shows as ‘paid’)
• As it is a Saturday, I am treating myself to ‘proper’ coffee rather than instant (having said that, it is Basics)
• Completed P46 and need to do a spreadsheet to explain the last year’s employment activity to give to the tax office to get a refund
• Need to fill in the JSA booklet to advise them that I have a job
• Go to M&S and get a refund on some tops I’d bought for work (I can get away with wearing smart t-shirts, which is quite handy as I am size 24 and shirts do not look good)
• Decide whether or not to go with hubby when he has his tattoo this afternoon (I cant stand the sound)
• Do some college work (exam on Tuesday. We had a mock exam given back to us last week, and there are some areas I need to work on)
• Read the paper at the library
• Avoid the lottery website
• Use cash wherever possible
• Re-cover my sealed pot (had to break it open last month to pay bills)
• Read a week’s worth of this thread
• Catch up on shows online
Think that is about it, take care everyone and have a good weekend.
