Isn't life funny :rotfl:
It's clear to everyone that it's the neighbours wall but Morph, in all innocence, couldn't see it.
I'd have kicked off if I hadn't been asked about the installation, but would have probably agreed if I liked the neighbour.
My mother-in-law has her sat dish on her neighbours house just like in the picture, but they have lived next to each other and got on well for 30 odd years. I wonder what would happen should they ever move?0 -
I hardly think it is appropriate for MORPH3US to call him an Arsey neighbour :rolleyes:he's quite old and normally friendly enough and quiet so I couldn't understand it....
..... as he never complains when I take liberties with the old codgers good nature"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I hardly think it is appropriate for MORPH3US to call him an Arsey neighbour
To be fair to him, he did seem to genuinely believe the issue lay with his neighbour instead of him. Perhaps he doesn't feel the same now that so many people have told him differently?
OP did you talk to your neighbour? Is there an acceptable to both, end result to this?Herman - MP for all!0 -
I once had a neighbour who went mental because she could SEE my sat dish from her kitchen window!! It was entirely on my property so it remained there..
Agree the installer was just being lazy in this case and should have gone away and got whatever he needed to put it on the back of the property. I also agree a wee apology for the genuine mistake to soothe the neighbours would be a nice gesture and for the best in the long run.0 -
MORPH3US has got some neck even posting this. He is one bloody cheeky so and so to even allow sky to do this without consulting the neighbour. Had it been my house he would be putting right all the damage done to the brickwork.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I have to agree with a lot of the other posters - all it would have taken is a knock on the neighbours door to speak with him about what was planned to do. I probably would have said yes as its round the corner and not obscuring any views or anything.
So the upshot of this all is you should have had the courtesy to ask permission first.Mags - who loves shopping0 -
In defence of Morph3us, I don't think they planned to do this-the installer just took it into his head to fix it in the easiest place-in this case someone else's wall!No free lunch, and no free laptop0

i'd be having a dicky fit if i was the neighbour.
he's an old fella and doesn't need this hassle. not particularly your fault op but the installer should've known better but he's only concerned in getting his cash and then onto the next job.0 -
got to admit i wouldnt be having this......cant understand the party wall rubbish of the op saying its his,if his neighbour decided to roughcast his house that wall is part of his house so it would be roughcast...would the op be willing to pay for this....if i was the neighbour i would give him 3 days to have it removed or i would be up there and take it down myself...its all good and well in here saying this regulation and this law regarding party walls but how about a little comon sense,a little courtesy and a little respect for someones property,do you think you(op) would be happy if your neighbour mounted a 90cm dish which you dont need planning permission to do a liitle further down the wall so obsructed the view from your upstairs window..no you wouldnt..but then again your neighbour would probably have a little more sense and respect for other people than you do.0

Yep, it is funny but that doesn’t alter the fact that if the wall is astride the boundary (which it almost certainly is) then it is all party wall and the OP is perfectly entitled to do minor works like shelves and dishes without a party wall agreement.
Pragmatically, !!!!!! off neighbours are a bad thing and for that reason I think I’d do some feather smoothing and probably move it to the back0
