Can someone fill me in a bit on the More with Less' cookbook please - I have all of the Tightwad Gazette books plus the newsletters - are the two interchangable? do I need both? does TG cover the same points?0

I would say they are not interchageable.More With Less is a cookbook, with a strong message that we in the west should consume less of the world's resources. There is a review of it on page 260 of the Tightwad Gazette.
Tightwad Gazette has lots of useful recipes and food tips but it also has loads of other stuff which More With Less doesn't cover.
I think if you like the TG,you will also like MWLC
Another useful American book also recommended in the TG is The Use-It-Up Cookbook by Lois Carlson Willand.

You could also try sprinkling over rehydrated dried fruits also, raisins, sultannas, apricots etc. Just soak the fruit overnight in a bowl, then drain it off.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. I bought a pot of this on the train the other day and really enjoyed it. I can't remember the make of it but I enjoyed it and normally I do not have breakfast but I would be able to eat this in a morning. The granola was crunchy (maybe it normally is but I've never tried it before) can I buy this ready made in boxes or can I make it myself?0

You can buy granola in boxes..its usually by the oats...quaker make one that is addictive and quite often in morrisons its on offer 2 boxes for £3.. you can also make your own...if you go to www.uk.tv.food or www.goodfood.co.uk and put granola in the search box it should bring some recipes up for you..-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
I've been making home made cereal which might work. It's 8 cups of dry to one cup of wet ingredients. The dry should be oats, flour, dessicated coconut, seeds etc and the wet should be honey, syrup, treacle etc. Mix and place in the oven on a low setting and stir often for up to an hour. Stir when cooling too unless you want larger lumps in which case you can leave it to cool then break up the pieces. Use at least 3 or 4 cups of oats.
I found some recipes in the More With Less Cookbook and I've just been throwing any old thing in. I don't think I'll buy ready made cereal again. I was in hospital last weekend and DH bought me some Alpen because he thought that would be nearest to my h/m stuff. I thought it was sickly sweet but I used to love it.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

and put in whatever I fancy. I'm also a huge fan of frozen raspberries -they're far cheaper and you can get them all year round:T
I meant to add that I bring a pot of yoghurt and cereal to work for my afternoon snack - if you want the cereal to stay crunchy it needs to be added at the last minute, in my experience.0 -
I started having this last week, I used my own cereal but opted for the sainsburys honey and sultana one which is similar to granola. I actually did it wrong and left the cereal in contact with the yoghurt and it went soggy but actually I found I preferred it like this!
I made my own compote with nectarines, sugar, water, cornflour and lemon juice and bought a big tub of yoghurt. A batch of 5 nectarines and a whole big pot of yoghurt lasted 5 or 6 days.0
