I'm so chuffed with myself, that's the first time I've ever done a link! A very nice person told me how to do it on the techie board.
;DIt's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know0 -
I've just been through my wardrobe and followed the "If you haven't worn it in 2 years, throw it out" rule.
Result - A wardrobe that is tidy, I can see exactly where everything is. ;)
Next job will be to declutter my kitchen cupboards, again! I love my kitchenalia and just cringe when I have to think about clearing out. But, needs must. My corner cupboard is about to burst and everything is spreading along the benches.
This thread really put me in the mood for doing it, so that's good.0 -

oh, I could never throw away books, you are very brave. You could try releasing them
I'm not too bad with mags, I automatically rip out the bits I want, then throw them away stragiht after I've finished with them.
What a nice idea that 'bookcrossing' is Squidgy...I usually take 'em to a charity shop but I like the idea of leaving 'em on a park bench/coffee shop etc.
Also glad you misread too....I'm not the only one going doo-lally thenNice to save.0 -
Lst week I gave my kitchen a cheapo touch up for Christmas.
Just a lick of paint on the walls and some new curtains the paint was here the curtains £20.
It is connected to this thread because I had loads of china ornamental on my shelves plus some cookery books and leaflets plus a little basket that I threw anything tat was homeless into it was overflowing with nothing of value.
Lots of the china was blue and white the curtains new were green and yellow. I had put the stuff out the shed cos it didn't go woth the new Green curtains and ony put things on the shelves that did. I've lived with it for a week and don't like it, I quite like the curtains but I can't get my stuff to fit in with them I've decided I like my china etc so the curtains have to go, but I can't justify having paid the 20 quid, not a lot I know to some but it is for me.
Anyway today I went and got it all back in from the shed decided the shelves looked too neat, tidy and boring.
I like some of my clutter it's homely;D
I went to buy gingham curtains a country girl at heart and was swayed by someone else's opinion.
Anyway PercyF and everyone the best part of the story is yet to come, whilst agonising over chucking the curtains and having to buy new I went to find an old book I have with a country kitchen with gingham curtainsand in tha pages of that old book that could have well been chucked out as clutter was..........
£100
Moral check your clutter afore ye chuck it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
So.......should I buy new curtains or what ???Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

In about 1990, my now late grandma was taken seriously ill and rushed into hospital. My aunt came over from Canada, 'to say goodbye'. However, the old duck lived for a good few years after.
My mum and aunt decided to give Grandma's house a clean and decided to take stock of the kitchen. Grandma always liked to have stuff in, in case anyone ever popped in for tea - but by 1990 was too frail to cook anymore. My mum found cupboards bulging with tins, packets, jars - you name it, Grandma had it. She used to buy stuff in bulk because it was cheaper and in her cupboards, were 17 bulk-buy sized packets of ready-mix crumble topping!!Some still had their price labels on - in Pounds, Shillings and Pence!
There were many many boxes and bags of out of date foods that were thrown out and all they did was pull the remaining packets to the front of the cupboards so they still looked full. ;D They were still there when Granma did go in 1997. And as for her clothes....... let's not go there.0 -
Last year for Christmas my husband bought me (at my request i should add) a copy of the Life Laundry book -, from the tv series.
It had tips and ideas of getting rid of clutter and identifying areas where they build up and how to stop it.
So like MATH i made the husband and kids go to visit relatives for the weekend, and i just started in one room and went thru cupboard by cupboard throwing away stuff.
I felt so much better knowing the place was clutter free.
It needs doing again now tho0 -
