October 2008 - 8 months after the Dickisons started
Budget is now £176k
Looks done... they stuck with their cheap fire doors.
Went for a top end kitchen diner.
Beeny: "You've ended up with a phenomenally lovely house"
Beeny: "This area's had an extra hit and the immediate area is stuffed full with the people who have been hit hardest by the economic turmoil."
In Battersea the number of houses sold has fallen by 33%.
Need £866k just to break even
Agents: £825k, £800k, £750k.
OOPS!! Average of £75k loss
Mother: "It wouldn't be a consideration to sell this property at the current time"
Beeny: "renting ... need just under £3k per month to break even". She thinks they could get £3,200/month.
Beeny: "Would you do another one?"
Mother: "No - it's very difficult when there's three of you"
Rick decided to move into it and rent out the other 3 bedrooms.
Rick has retrained as a domestic installer so he can do electrics now.
He is looking at ways to get another development going.0 -
12 months on and Natasha and her mum have moved into the bungalow.
Natasha: "I think £475k was slightly ambitious."
Beeny says holding on hoping for prices to bounce back is dangerous and when rates increase, the surge of properties onto the market will push prices down.0 -
I must confess I have watched Sarah's programmes over the years, and video taped many for repeat viewing, and never realised they were about property.
It was great when she was pregnant, they were even bigger. It reminded me to dig up some of my old dvd's my favourite being 'barefoot and pregnant'.0 -

£425,000 on Property Bee. Great reporting btw. And possibly the best program for quite some time. Enjoyed it as much as the televised egg throwing competition on earlier today.

I think that may have been even better than "My Monkey Baby" which was about bonkers Americans who had monkeys as child substitutes. (repeated on C4 tomorrow I think).
When will they ever learn? House prices have dropped, but ooh, that won't affect my special house.0 -
