One of the midwives who work with the blood pressure consultant (I've had borderline high bp for years) just called to arranged a load of appointments with me but also told me to start taking aspirin every day from now. Is this common?

Argh, I don't want to mess the thread up with medical advice and all that so please no medical advice / opinion, just experience please!

I would wait until you see the consultant. It was common practice to start people with high BP on aspirin as a primary preventative however, there has recently been some new guidance around giving aspirin for primary prevention of stroke, blood clots etc especially for patients with high blood pressure. I would be very surprised if MW was up to date with this information. Might be worth an appt with GP if you aren't seeing the consultant anytime soon.

not medical advice - just advising to speak to consultant first.
Might be worth asking Jillie if she has been told to take aspirin as she has high BP and has weekly checks.

To be honest, I am getting by on about 2-3 hours sleep most nights at the moment and I have a 1 hour drive to work and then back again. I am just so flaming hot and uncomfortable! So I am wary of how I will cope nearer my due date. Just thought I would rather have the option of finishing earlier and relaxing.

I have a 20min drive and am sleeping OK (not great) but want as much time afterwards as I can. I know I have those 19 days as a back up in case it gets too much and work are aware that I may take them if I need to.

OMG - I got a foot stuck in my ribcage over the weekend

  • Ours is about 45 min drive but my mum lives in the same place so we might decamp to hers on the weekend before EDD (monday) on the other hand, seeing as 1st babies are often late, that might be a bit too hasty, I don't want to be there for 2 weeks! I'd still take my ML I think... Hoping to work a lot of August at home as the hot drive over and baking office are not much fun.

Glam - had a dream that the foot was sticking out so much you could see it in all the detail, including each little toe!

Ha ha, excellent. I have no idea about the movements - I think I have too much padding to be able to distinguish. People keep asking if I have seen a wee foot yet, but I just feel hard kicks/punches and can see my tummy jerk when it happens, but not noticed much else. I have sat in meetings jumping when baby has decided to give me a good kicking unexpectedly though!
