Well thats that done then. I have to wait for the report to be passed on then contact the educational psychologist about funding to see what she can arrange. He is 4 and scoring the equivalent of a 5yr old for visual and interactive social skills. 3 yr old for everything else and 2yr old for self care (toileting, dressing etc). Pretty much what I already knew.
Head hurts again but I can't remember when I took paracetamol... Think it was 11.... :rolleyes:0 -
Enjoy the peace and quiet whilst you can LOL
Get lots of rest and batch cook to stock up the freezer - anything that just needs sticking in the oven will be invaluable in those first few weeks (lasagne, cottage pie etc)

I've still got all DS's scores from 11 years ago, read them occasionally to remind how hard he has worked and how far he has come. Was 2 years behind then, started school at 5 and still not talking but now he's predicted C's across his GCSE's. You just gotta keep stamping your foot to get them what they need, was nearly 3 years ago now that I went to my MP about schooling but them that shouts loudest!Too many children, too little time!!!0

He scored high because they took the approach that he can do it with his left hand, but he needs encouragement to use his right constantly. We'll see what happens I guess.
I've cleaned and tidied enough for today, headache is back, body is sore and I'm dog tired.0 -

At the end of the day Tia, all the bl00dy specialists in the world can assess your child but only you know what they're really capable of. They can have an occasional good day and sods law it's the day of the appointment, or they pick the one thing out of 20 that they have mastered and go on and on about it. You know in your heart when things aren't right, only when I thought about it later that I think I knew at 18mths but nobody would listen. He's lucky as he has you to fight his battles, and they can be battles. When DS started school there was a boy who had similar problems but no statement for extra help. I was adament that my sons TA was not to spend time with him as I'd fought so hard to get it I felt that his parents should have to do the same. Some would say I was selfish, I don't care! He never got help and DS came on quicker. I have to say though that with 1 more year in school (fingers crossed for 6th form) it hadn't crossed my mind how hard it would be now, he has to manage in the world of grown-uos soon and they're harsher than kids. Scares me to death!Too many children, too little time!!!0
