I meant to say the other day I was surprised they didn't do Nuchal scan for you because it can be done between 11+2 and 13+2. At least you get to see baby twice!

Yeah, well the measurements they took put it at exactly 11+2 - she did try some different angles and such to see if she could possibly get a measurement but eventually gave up & said it would be much easier in 2 wks. I'm about a size 16, so I think the extra distance between my baby and the outside world might not help give the clearest picture on an already-borderline (small) baby! Oh well...

Happy Birthday Glam, Thanks for looking nms have found quite a bit on the net about it some postive, some not ?. As i said i am 13 weeks today and have gone form size 8 to size 12 but thats because i have given up smoking i swear as this pregnancy was not planned and i was on the pill ? but still managed to get pregnant however saying that me and my oh are over the moon. I still have only told a couple of close friends and my parents however my mum and oh have made this the worst kept secret ever. Still a bit worried about telling my friends etc just in case. However meeting up with a few old friends later and not sure if to tell them or not even though i think they may guess from the size of me !!We had our nuchal scan on Sunday because our maternity unit is so busy they are now working 7 days a weeks. Also they gave us a dvd of the scan. But the guy doing the scan was quite rough, to try and move the baby.
Darling son born 10/12/09 hopefully the 1st of many :j

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY Glam!

    WELCOME newbies!

    evening!

taken me over an hour to catch up and now it's time for a bath... first since Alfie has started properly kicking and hoping it'll wake him up again!

felt him roll over earlier... was strange! the kicking is getting more 'normal' so feeling an elbow or something rub against my arm was weird!!!

find out about redundancy 2mo... here's hoping! do any of you girls know if i'd be entitled to anything til i'm due if i am made redundant? would i have to try claiming jobseekers or something to be entitled to the surestart?
(i wont be getting a huge amount for redundancy...)

You should be able to claim JSA until you become entitled to Maternity Allowance (if not working, that is at the 15th week before the week the baby is due).

If you are registered self employed you can choose when to start Ma - I am waiting till the baby is born as we will need the money more then than we do now.

Lovely colleague just came up to me and said I don't look any different and am 15 weeks this week. My next midwife appointment isn't for another 2 weeks - hope it won't be bad news. Was beginning to think a couple of weeks ago I wouldn't be able to hold out much longer for maternity wear and suddenly this week all my clothes (admittedly not my 12's but my 14's) feel OK.

Argh. Pregnancy paranoia! Tell me I am not the only one!

I didn;t look pregnant until I was about 19 weeks and people constantly told me I didn;t look pregnant. Even now I get told I am too small so don't panic - you must just have a small baby right now and/or very good tummy muscles, none of which is cause for concern.

I am still wearing a lot of normal clothes a size bigger than my usual size, as well as some maternity wear, but as I am small bump-wise mat clothes don't fit me so well. Don;t worry about it.

Elastigirl - don't panic! I hated all my scans as I always thought it would be bad news, and I know you can't help worrying once you've decided something might be wrong, but I'm sure it's not. Keep relaxed and try to do something to take your mind off the appointment.

I'm feeling remarkably OK about my scan on Thursday now. I measured my own fundal height today, and discovered that if I lie like I did last week, on my floor, I measure a good cm smaller than if I put a pillow under my head and raise my head to watch, as I have done all other times at the surgery!

So I think it's OK, and was just a quirk of how I was lying.

I'm also feeling very empowered about my rights to have a home birth and with all my figures on low birth weights, so I am ready to argue my case if I need to!
