CONGRATULATIONS Sami and Searching! I go offline for a weekend and we have two births! :D

Well, I had an, erm, interesting weekend with the in-laws. They are just so different to me! They don;t talk, like at all. They didn't ask about he bump, when I told them about needing another scan for the growth they didn;t ask any questions, they weren't interested in the baby room, they never said anything about the house which they have never seen before!

Brother-in-law and his missus were just trying to work out how much the house was worth - if they'd asked I'd have told them! They couldn;t get over house prices down here and were obviously thinking I'm rich and then expected us to pay for all the meals!

Luckily we did get money out of them as we paid for hte first meal, then didn;t get our card out again. No way are we paying for everyone, what a cheek!

Even OH commented that they didn;t seem excited or anything and I felt sorry for him cos my parents are well into it and even my dad asks how the bump is and is a bit interested.

The last thing they asked was when we are going up next! Since we got married a year ago they have been to see us only this time, and we have been up there loads, so I just replied 'Christmas' and kept quiet when they looked shocked.

I mean for goodness' sake! We're having a baby in about six weeks, then we are going to Italy at the end of September - they should come and see us.

Although they can;t, because the stupid people have booked to go on holiday on August 5 and if I am late then they will be away when the baby comes!

Sorry - that was quite a rant but what a waste of a weekend.

Bump is OK, moving and stuff, and I'm just waiting till the scan on Thursday to find out if things are Ok or if we need another scan to check the growth.

Am very tired after such a demanding weekend, and may go back to bed in a minute.

    Hope everyone is well.

Poor you skinty. Sounds like Christmas will be more than soon enough to see them again.
How charming, your OH must have felt quite hurt by their attitude... make sure you spoil him today to make up for his awful family. And spoil yourself too since you had to waste your time with them.

And thank you, I've been reading about everyone else OH's and ILs and feeling a bit sorry for myself, and for the first time in days you have reminded me that I am glad to be doing this on my own. So whilst I wouldn't wish those people on you, thanks for perking me up a bit.

Promise to revert to my usual cheerful self shortly and I'll be thinking of you on Thursday, let us know how you get on with the scan. Mine is 21st July so a while away yet.

Glad it made you feel better Harley!

Last Christmas was awful - we went to OH's brother's and loads of random people were there who didn;t speak to us, they were all smoking so I had to sit in a different room as they wouldn;t stop even though I told them I was pregnant, and they didn;t have anything non-alcoholic without caffeine that I could drink so I had milk!!

OH is not at all like them and I can't understand how he has turned out the way he has. Fil is OK but even he was whinging about the weather - as if that was why they'd come down!

I felt they didn;t really want to come at all, that they resented us being unable to put them up (no room) even though they don;t give us a room when we go up, we stay with my parents, and that they felt we should have gone up to them.

Honestly, I'd be happy never to see them again!

I said to OH last night 'I don;t think I'm what your mum wants in a daughter-in-law' and he went quiet. Guess I'm right.

    Nice BS greent!

SugarSpun, were you having 'irritated uterus' issues, contractions but not dilating and put on magnesium?? Or was that someone else?

Skinty, my growth scan is Wed, I'll be 29 weeks exactly. Will let you know how it goes.

Chemistry assessment is done with, not got results yet, think it's a pass. Got some stuff for biology tomorrow and then that is me all done! Or it flippin well better be!

Off to phone for my surestart grant form.

ETA, wehhey, print out the sure start grant form here... http://www.dwp.gov.uk/advisers/claimforms/sf100_print.pdf

ETAA - for you girls who don't qualify for the grant now, apply after bubs is born when your tax credits have been updated as you may be eligible then (remember you have until they are 3 months old) - top tip from the lady I spoke to on the phone about it, she said always apply even if you don't think you will get it, then re-apply after the baby has been born :D
