Hi all
A bit cooler here today! phew:D
Just waiting for GP to ring me back to see if I need to go in to see them..Have been having terrible headaches over the last few months and have had one now for about 4 days and it wont go! even when it isnt painful it is like a heavy feeling in my head:rolleyes:. i have had some visual disturbances too so it sounds like a migrane. I have never suffered from headaches or migrane so it is odd.....in typical nurse fashion am starting to worry about what it can be:o
My courgettes have been rubbish this year too so am glad it isnt just me....i was told they were one of the easiest things to grow so was rather puzzled as to why mine kept dying off:rolleyes:....have one plant left but not much happening with it.
my other veg and fruit bushes are doing well though :T
Have lots I want to do today but this headache is making me feel dreadful and no energy...am not good at being unwell.
Will have to shove a loaf in BM soon and hang washing out. May do online shop ready for next week.
Hugs to all
D&DD will mail you later0 -

NoahsPennilessMummy (((hugs))) hope they get to the bottom of the headaches - 4 days is far to long to be suffering, they do sound like migraine to me though. xDo what you love :happyhear0

Morning OS lovelies!
Sunnygirl - Glad I wasn't the only one to only have lettuce!!
Halight - I am looking forward to enjoying home grown stuff in a month or so and if we have a good summer there is no reason why I shouldn't be eating fresh veg in Sept and Oct.. next year I am going to start sowing seeds at the end of February and not wait til March/april. Still it was my first year at growing from seeds so I shall forgive myself!
Sunnyday - bought myself a jar of Sandwich spread as a treat this week, I had never thought of making it - does it taste like the 'real' stuff?
Pen-Pin - glad you enjoyed your treat at the hairdressers, I bet you look fab!
Taplady - I love the Apprentice too and especially this interview week.
Flissh - Well done on the strawberrys.
Stef - I ended up having to wear a hearing aid for school for a while and it was one of the old fashioned types with a big battery box which you had to keep in a breast pocket and the wire then trailing up to your enormous ear piece. I hope your daughter comes to terms with it. I stopped using mine as I quickly learnt to lipread and my hearing did get better as I got older.
Whatatwit - I posted some spreads and dips recipes HERE if that helps.
Ivy - I used to work in the local charity shop one day a week and I too was often disgusted by what people dumped on us rather than throw in their own bins!
JackieO - Good luck today hon.
Noahs - hope they find out what is wrong
My OH came back from France in the wee small hours and of course had spent far too much. He knows I like cheese so arrived back with a lovely camembert plus a brie, a bresse bleu, two goats cheese and Saint Agur!!! Six large lumps of cheese which I know must have cost a lot. I am not saying that I won't eat it all and enjoy it but the amount he must have spent... *rolls eyes*. He also seems to have the entire range of every french biscuit ever baked!! But those he will have to keep in his office so I am not tempted. He is such a sweetie, but with money being tight it makes me nervous.
Another hot hot hot day. Am planning to be in the garden after 1500 (way too hot before then) as I have some more pots to sort and am considering planting up a grow bag with my largest tomato babies even if they are only about 8 inches tall!to all the children taking exams today and extra
for you mums and dads dealing with exam stress!
Warm gentle hugs for all - Have a great day and if anyone sees any Kingsmill Wallace and Gromit vouchers, then please do think of me!

'Morning All!
Bit cooler here today, but still loads of tree-seeds floating about, which are making my hayfever a nightmare. at least my chest seems a little less wheezy today so maybe the antibiotics did some good (finished them yesterday). Still coughing quite a bit though, which gives me a headache, and now a stabbing pain in the lower abdomen too (hoping that this means my follies are developing well for the IVF - 1st scan due on Friday to see how they are doing....please let my chest be clear enough for anaesthetic next week!!!).
Had a sad conversation with my mum last nite. As some of you will know from previous threads, dad has alzheimers, lives at home with mum, and refuses to go anywhere, not even to a day-centre, let alone into respite for a few days to give her a break. Well I think mum is finally at the end of her tether and we're going to have to make him go away for a little while. The psychologist has said before that if mum gets to a point where she really can't cope, then he will sign the papers, but it is so hard. For a long while now dad has been 'difficult' with mum, not doing what she asks him to (like bath, change his clothes, eat a proper meal). Usually I could cajole him into doing things, but he won't even do them for me any more. He's not bathed in 3 weeks now, and insists on wearing long-sleeve shirts and sweatshirts (in this heat!) and will only eat biscuits at the moment. Yesterday he 'lost' his hearing-aid and eventually mum found it - in his denture-pot, soaking in solution! (obviously ruined). Mum's not in the best of health herself, and has had to go onto anti-depressants to help her cope. I feel so useless - don't know what more I can do? I think he needs to go away for a while for mum's sake, but he will shout and scream and cry, and be so hurt if he has to be forced to go, and we will both feel so guilty.
OS-wise, nothing much doing today. Lunch is left-over pasta dish from last nite. Not got dinner planned as we are supposed to be going to support-group meeting at our IVF clinic, but I expect DH has forgotten...
Hope everyone having a good day,

Fairy Elephant - Nothing I can say can ease what you and your mum are going through but wanted to send a special hug to you.

Hi all, not sure if this is the right thread to post in but didn't want to start my own as there's so many similar threads!
Have been sat for the last hour with a spreadsheet trying to work out our money for the month and we're left with £30 a week to live on for June, which includes petrol, food, parking, nephews birthday pressie and pub meal out, shoes for OH son (£10) and tobacco.
OH has agreed to use rolling tobacco which we can buy for £6.50 which should last 2 weeks if not more.
He's also fixed his bike so will possibly ride to school with son (amost 3 miles) where we usually drive.
Could anyone give any other tips? I'm going to raid the freezer in this afternoon and attempt to make some kind of meal plan but i feel it always falls down with meat being so expensive - we once tried making curry with chicken thighs but weren't keen so we don't usually have much chicken because of the price.
We buy the cheapest mince which is always much less after draining fat but it seems most meals are mince related! (meatballs/burgers/mince & dumplings, shepherds pie). Also we've been buying lots of value fruit but this adds up as we eat a lot of it, or at least try to!
There is me (pregnant so snacking lots), OH (think double portions), and DS (6).
Thanks, Beenie0 -
Fairy Elephant - Big hugs & prayers to you and your Mum it's rotten that you have to make such hard decision :grouphug:0

Afternoon all,
I haven't been posting much in the last couple of days as very little Old Style is going on here. Problems with ds1, but it's a long story so I won't bore you all with it.
Plans for today:
Some gardening.
Cooking a chicken before it goes off and possibly Thriftlady's recipe for Potato, onion and bacon hotpot.
Bedding out to dry on the line.
Get out of the house for a while at some stage, or else I'll scream!
Fairy Elephant, what a dreadful decision you have to make.
Redruby, Sorry. I owe you a pm...I'll get back to you later today. x
Jackie, I hope all goes well today.
Stef, it's a tough age for your dd never mind needing a hearing aid. Even if Mr Caring Sharing is critical, you know that you're doing your best for her.
Churchmouse, rocket gardens looks great.
BeanieCat, Welcome to the daily thread. Martin's article on supermarket shopping might help you to cut back a bit. There's lots of ideas on this thread too: £20 to feed a family of 4 for a month?and lots of cheap meal ideas on these threads. If you post a list of what's in your freezer on the Store cupboard challenge you should get lots of advice on how to eek out what you have. Sorry for all the links. But I hope they help.
Have a good day all,
Pink0
