Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wed 3Rd June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning . Nice and early at it's a fishing day. Weather is good and as far as I know everyone should show up. This has a been a competition a while in the planning, so it's always nice when it works out.
I managed to find some nice baits yesterday at the estuary with some huge ragworm and soft back crab... hope they work.
So 9am we shall we off out of Newquay... :j Everyones with their rod out over the side.
BEES... several asked how to capture a swarm.. Well hopefully they are like this having setlled and you can put a box underneath and cut the branch. The queen will be in the middle and all the stray bees will find the queen and stay with the bunch. You just transfer them to a new hive and they will usually take up residence. Funny thing is they are generally happy having gorged themselves beforehand on honey (for the journey to find a new home) so are unlikely to sting you.
Moving on.... fishing.gif Got to get my lunch ready......

NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

have had a rough night - dd(12) saw the ent consultant yesterday and he is pretty sure that more surgery will be a waste of time and that she needs a hearing aid - cue tears all round. Mr caring Sharing - who was invited but didn't come to the appointment - seems to think it's all my fault and wants me to take notes and keep a diary of all future appointments as well as writing down everything that has happened so far - last night i was upset - today i'm just angry. dd(12) is adamant that she won't wear an aid but i'm hoping it wil lbe just like her glasses - i had to give her a quid to wear them home from the opticians and they've not been off since LOL - she spent the whole journey home reading out shop signs that she'd not been able to before.

Tea tonight will have to be something to do with turnips - for some reason i planted loads in the veg patch and they are enormous

    have a good day

    Morning peeps

i think that i just might have overfilled the washing machine - it`s making a right old racket in the kitchen :o the clothes should be ready to hang out shortly.

Dull and cool here after the last few baking hot days, hope that my washing dries quickly. Little oldie will welcome the cooler weather when we go out i`m sure.

I`ve just made the most enormous salad. Shredded white cabbage, onions, celery, red and green peppers, radishes, carrots and chopped mixed salad leaves from the garden (the radish were hg ones too) it smells absolutely gorgeous and is sitting in my colander draining. It should last a couple or three days which will free up some time for me to do other bits and pieces as i`m on the late shift for a while now.

Guess what - there are small pods on my peas :ji`ve moved them from the greenhouse (they are in SFG tubs) and put them round the back of it so they are still sheltered, last night i discovered the pods - woohoo!

N9eav - those bees look pretty scary to me

Essex girl - hope that you cold clears up soon, i though that i`d got one a couple of nights ago but it was hayfever - don`t know whether to be glad or not :rotfl:

JackieO - Good luck today (((HUGS)))

Flissh - Well done on the strawbs, i`ve yet to see my first

Right i`m off down the garden before i end up still here in an hour, walkies for the houndies afterwards and then some ironing that can`t be avoided any longer :D

    Have a good day peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
