This Government has made plenty of mistakes. Failure to restrict the Tory dream of a free market economy being just one of them. The 'mess' that we are in - just like most other countries - was caused by a systemic failure of the banking system. A system that had been with us for many years and 'approved' by both major parties in this country and by most of the rest of the world.
Whatever the Labour party do to try to recover from the mess will be derided by opportunistic opponents. Their cheap jibes do nothing but hinder the recovery process.

 Political motive?
I don't think little me is going to be the reason for the absolutely enormous and deserving mauling Clown is going to get at the elections.
Don't try to defend Labour by blaming anyone else for any of this mess. Who has been in power for over a decade? Who was the chancellor throughout most of this?
This failure has got absolutely nothing on what faces the country over the coming decades because of the way this country has been run.
This is more stupid public spending when we are already at totally unaffordable and unsustainable amounts.
Those aren't my words those are the words of the International Monetary Fund!0

Aint been here for a while, just wondered if anyone did the scrappage thing and how it worked out
Pickles mate, how you getting on with your Aygo, tried putting anything in the back yet?;)0

This article is very silly. Vintage wine bottles depreciate by 100% after you've drunk the contents. The point of the scrappage scheme was to get people spending their money rather than sitting on it. Its (mostly) irrelevant to car manufacturers how much you can sell the thing for second hand after youve bought it.0

Do you know somewhere that I can trade in my 10 year + bottles that I've forgetton to drink. Some are like vinegar now. So would like some new vintage.0

Huh, like I need scrappage! Bought a one owner 02 Merc yesterday with only 32k on the clock and full history for 4k.
Not only that, it has hot & cold running water in the back, generates its own electricity and has a couple of floodlights for those summer evenings round the barbie at the beach.
OK, so it's a van; ex Transco, but I had you going there for a moment!:rotfl:0

Since when were cars supposed to hold their value?

Hi - yes I did - just waiting for a Yaris with 30% discount. So brand new Yaris for £1500 more than my (then) 2 year old Micra cost in 1998.
I would never have gone for a brand new car if it hadn't been for the scrappage scheme - of course - but now I have the pleasure of the brand new car with 3-year warranty and no MOT (plus it's £35 tax).
So perfect scheme for me, if not for others. I'd always planned a newer car this summer and paid cash.

That's great babe, at least you lived to tell the tale:T
Wouldn't want to go smaller than a Yaris meslef, poor old Pickles has been MIA since he got his Aygo, hope he's not stuck in it or summat:eek:0

Nice image. I suspect the Aygo story will turn out to be the same as the other stories - remember the cheap mortgage, the Docks volumes, and the amazing mini bubble that was the Felixstowe housing market?FungusFighter wrote: »poor old Pickles has been MIA since he got his Aygo, hope he's not stuck in it or summat:eek:
Add the Aygo to that list of fairy tales.0

I liked the Aygo (used to the Micra, after all) but the offer I had (from online broker, which was matched by local dealer) meant the Aygo would have cost more than the Yaris (I don't know how or why, just what they came up with).
Thanks for all the laughs that you and Mewbie have given me over the last months. Just brilliant. Love your style, but are you as cool as you sound? Perhaps you're a 65 year old working in B&Q??
