Heres the thing I don't get. People buy small cars and then realise that they are clapped out and costing due to the low cost parts. So they go buy another small, cheap car.

I'd rather spend 6k on a 3 year old, decent engined safe car, than spend it on something I know won't last long at all. Which is what I do. Not to mention the fact that you get so much more and they don't depriciated quite as fast. Not to mention you get a better quality car.

    Personal preferences I guess.

Am I right in thinking the govt stumps up 1k and the dealer does too? So the dealer will give you 1k off anyway, even if you don't have a car to trade?

Ferrari during the week, it's good for the image wheeling and dealing, Range Rover for weekends down on the estate.

Bet you'll be sorry to see the Beemer go though. Whether it's old or not, it's still a Beemer. Not a Hugo.

Yes I will and will also miss the fun of not knowing if you will stop when you hit the brakes.

I have missed this banter over the last few weeks, great when you read it and a smile comes over your face thinking about how Mewbie is blushing over some of the comments.

I'm not at all sure of that, my parents have been running their current nissan micra for... well, around eight years... bought second hand... and I don't think beyond replacing the occasional broken light they've ever needed to do more than the basic services.

The last nissan car they bought lasted 12 years, second hand, and was destroyed by joyriders.
