I have missed this banter over the last few weeks, great when you read it and a smile comes over your face thinking about how Mewbie is blushing over some of the comments.
We all react differently to some types of banter. Do you want to know want to know what I am doing right now Pickles while I think about Fungus draping me over the bonnet....

I've always been meaning to buy a (nearly new) car this summer (my retirement year and therefore most likely to be my last car). I've got a 13-year old rust bucket (Micra) which is costing a fortune in MOT's, and the garage is finding difficulty in getting the spare parts anyway. No part-ex value and £120 per annum road tax.

So, I've just ordered a Toyota Yaris - list price £9600+ which I'm getting for £6549 (via online broker, and then taking that quote to my local dealer who matched it).

It will be brand new so I'll get the extra MOT free years, and extra warranty years. I can enjoy being the only driver, and £35 road tax.

So the scrappage scheme is perfect for me because I'm getting a newer car which I will keep for the next 10-15 years. Mazel tov! Suits me!

Which online broker did you use?

Oh, and what would happen to my trusty Nissan? She'd be... er... 'recycled' I suppose, even though she might have another 20-30k in her, relatively trouble free. Very green that is, oh yes!*

Not green at all. That's a load of nonsense. It is far better to run a car into the absolute ground than buy a new car with all the emissions, energy usage in building it and all the component parts. There is just as much energy used in building a car and all it's components as it will use in it's lifetime in fuel.
I'm afraid a lot of people are taken in by Clown's greenwash.

There's a scrappage thread on the motoring board and a couple of people there had used them. I e-mailed Jonathan and he came up with some ideas.
