I've been to Scotland several times, found it beautiful, green, picturesque and very friendly. I absolutely loved Edinburgh with its amazing castle and its old, narrow streets. Only the accents were terrible- and who have been missed since they left (mainly) - and that's a genuine sentiment according to friends in the city. The HQ for a part (if not all) of the Polish exilled army in WW2 was near to Edinburgh in the Borders. They had a big (live) bear as their mascot IIRC.

green grass, decent snow in winter (or possibly spring, summer or autumn depending when it feels like falling) most years, prettier bank notes....when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it0
