I'm English and I live in Edinburgh:
    • Its much colder
    • Most people are nice, some aren't (just like home)
    • The water tastes funny (apparently its cos London water has floride added - which bizarrely I miss)
    • The winters are long and hard
    • Edinburgh is as multicultral as London
    • Its cold (did I mention that)
    • The buses are cheaper, so are the houses (though not much)
    • People do drink more - its not a sterotype, I've seen loads more drunks on buses, in the gutter and asleep on park benches than I ever did at home - of course they may all be English!
And if you live in Edinburgh, you'll wonder who the hell 'Ken' is and why everyone keeps talking about him!!

The red sections are one of the main reasons I love the south east. Its like the med here the past week:D
I know the south west have milder winters, but we have hotter summers;)
Highest temp ever recorded in the UK was not that far from me:j

Enjoy it, think of the gas we are saving:D
    27 down here.
I hate London in the summer, the polution gets trapped inside a modern type of smog & you can taste the fumes & polution in the sticky humid air:eek:

I don't think that you're far from me MrsE (er ..if that doesn't sound too stalkerish :o).

Actually maybe that's another reason why I like Scotland so much, I don't like extreme heat. I must be the only person in England who doesn't want a very hot sunny day forecast.

I believe it was in Charlwood, near Gatwick (the high temp).
I wouldn't mind living in Charlwood (apart from the planes) handy for the M25, handy for Gatwick/Crawley/Redhill-Reigate, handy for the A217 & the A23.
And hop across country to Dorking, Horsham, Guildford.

    But I don't live there:o

All joking (Fifer tail pulling etc.) aside, when I went to Scotland I found it a very friendly place with some lovely scenery. I went in summer though so it was bright and sunny, I would imagine with the short winter days (daylight) and the cold wet weather it can be pretty grim.

    Not here either. :D

Ah but we get more daylight here MrsE. At this time of year the sun sets after 10pm in Inverness but just after 9pm in Gatwick. Sunrise is earlier here too. :p
