im in again.... Running from 27th March to April 30th (making april a 5 week month for ease!) aiming for £45 for just me.

Cupboards + freezer are stocked... and im having on average one meal at my parents each week + im away at scout camp weekend 7th-9th april so thats 2 days worth of meals i dont need to budget for!

So my weekly spend will be £9 a week.

So far have spent a round £7 on fruit N veg.. (mum paid the extra 16p cos i had no change! ;) )

  • Hello all

    Another Newbie here.

Been looking at the posts for a while now on various boards and the help and info given out is great. Ive decided this is a good place to start, did my SOA and realised i spend about £400 a month on food and thats just on me and 2 doogs. After seeing how much some people spend im so ashamed!

I work shifts and dont cook so seem to live on microwave meals and boot's sarnies, which is expensive and cant be healthy!!
After looking at the recipes on here i made my list and ive spent £94 on all the store cupboard essentials i need to make loads of meals.

Just made my first batch of Bacon and pepper sauce, i have to say a huge thanks to whoever posted that recipe.

Im hoping i can get the spend down to under £300 this month, Fingers crossed!!

I'm going to join in this month. I can't quite get the budget right as I keep going over. So this month I'm going for £65 a week, this is for 2 adults and 3 kids and 2 kitties.

    Hi
Well i have done my first shop and i have to say i have never spent so long working out which is the best deal or offer and whether or not to go for an offer! i spent a bit more than i had planned to this week but mince was on offer so it will cover three weeks which is a bargain.
All in all i am quite pleased with the start. I have been lucky at this time because i have loads in the freezer and in the cupboard but i think things will get harder once i have used lots of it up.
Hope it's all going well with you all

Going to try this challenge again. Was a bit over budget last month and aim to stop wasting food. Will reduce budget by £30 this month so target will be £270 for 3 adults, food, cleaning and toiletries. Determined to make it this month.

Food only for two adults £100 again.

Over spent by £14 this month. The lame reasons for that is

    1) Got a chest freezer
    2) Have found out the reduced time in sainsburys

But with what I have at the moment I have meals planned until the 12th of April.

May only need to get milk/juice until I get chance to do a big shop. Around the 12th of the month.

    Yours

Now in my eyes, thats not overspending-thats INVESTING! Good on you!

Are you going to start making your own sarnies? That should on average save you about £20 per month. If you make a big batch of soup in the slowcooker you may be able to take that to work with you.
Ive started cooking for my dog a bit more too-a ~GS. I cook a load of rice with some beef or chicken-enough to last 2 or 3 days-I cook this with/in addition to my own food so its no extra effort. She seems all the better for it lately and its also moneysaving. Keep track of what you are spending on petfood I think you will be surprised.

I ent to Tesco today to get food for the week. I kept picking things up then hearing voices of MSErs in my head telling me not to buy things. I stocked up a few bits while they were on BOGOF. I spent just under £30 but when I got home I realised how full my cupboards are. The £30 I spent was mainly on fresh veg/milk/yoghurts etc. I have two toddlers who are both milk monsters so I'll need milk again before next week. Nappies were over £4 a pack in Tesco whereas in Boots two packs are £7.50 plus I get points so I left those till tomorrow.
I have no idea what I spend on food/petrol etc but this month I pln to find out. I am jotting down every penny that I spend in a freebie calender.

    Thanks for the imspiration!!!!!!!!!!
