  • A friend of mine used Magnet and she couldn't fault them. They didn't even want cups of tea. The arrived early got on with cleared up after themselves and had it all done within 3 days.

Another friend used some local firm and it has now dragged on about 8 weeks I believe with niggling problems.

    Hi

I've been reading this with interest.

I got a quote from Moben in march for £15000 - this did include fitting but I thought it was way over the top. We didn't want any appliances. There were maybe about 15 units (though I don't think we need that many)

Also do any kitchen people break the quote down? I really wasn't sure what was included - eg we would need a windowsill replaced if the existing tiles were removed, would they do that?

Needless to say we didn't get back to them. And have been scared off going to anyone else. Our budget was around 10k. 15 is just too much. Are Moben OTT. Their quality doesn't seem that great

The kitchen I really want is in John Lewis, but I'm nervous of committing to a plan and estimate from them if they're going to be this high.

Does anyone know where Moben lie in the pricing league?

Hi peem,I had a visit from moben last yr,told him what i wanted and he loaded it all on his laptop. After he finished,he showed the the complete package this was whole kitchen in solid oak, plus cooker, dish washer, fridge and freezer.Wow loverly i thought. Then i asked him for the price. Now this was for 2 double units,3 single units and the intergrated f&f units,oh and the laminate worktops and fitting.........................................................£8700:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: He said that was a good price as it was in there sale. After a couple of days to get over the shock i went to howdens.I got near enought exactly the same kitchen minus the appliances for £1600:T :T and fitted it myself.spent £1200 on appliences and got the whole lot for under £3000.:p

    Thanks Jason

the guy that came to us didn't even have a laptop - which I thought was a bit odd in this day and age. And the quote was on a scrap of paper. Not very professional - not that it would have bothered me so much if it was reflected in the price.

    thanks for your comments.

We were looking at a John Lewis kitchen, the Integra range, we had a full quote done (supply only) and were quoted more than £10,000.

Because of jlewis's reputation we were happy with that price and were about to place our order with them... that is until my wife found a company online (national kitchens) whose kitchens seemed very similar to those that jlewis were offering (the door looked identical) yet a huge amount cheaper.

After some reading and a couple of calls to their office it transpired that, in the words of National Kitchens, 'our kitchens are exactly the same quality as john lewis' ... now they wouldnt say any more than that but in my opinion that said it all!

Well after ordering a sample door we came to the now obvious conclusion that at the very least the door was indeed identical, and from their quality descriptions on their website ( https://www.nationalkitchens.co.uk ) the units seemed the same too (19mm units, fully assembled, soft close doors and drawers etc).

So we bit the bullet and ordered and quite frankly, we couldnt be happier! The doors are beautiful, the units are fantastic.. our fitter even said he's not fitted units of this good quality before! (Im not sure if that means our fitter wasnt very experinced but he did a great job never the less).

Top all this off with the fact that our £10k+ kitchen from jlewis actually cost us less than £4k from National Kitchens and we got it in 4 weeks compared to jlewis's quoted 12 weeks, and you've got a very satisfied customer :)

Needless to say, we're happily recommending them to anyone we know who's looking for a new kitchen.

    Have you tried bathstore.com ?

I just needed a bath panel from them (odd size) they got it in no problems and had some nice stuff in their showrooms.

We have been looking at kitchens for a month or so now, and after getting about a six quotes we have decided on Howdens.

Total cost for the kitchen is £1700 (its in their sale)

Slight problem we have is we were quoted £2000 to get it fitted by someone we know who has an account with them, his standard is very good as he installed my in laws kitchen last week.

We got a quote from someone else who has done work for us in the past for £300 to fit it but he does not have an account with them

Easy get MFI to price match and get the £300 fitter to do it.

Make sure the £300 fitter can fit the work tops properly and ask if you can look at one of his previous fits.

As an ex sales manager of MFI I have seen the quality of cheapo fits.
