Cheapest car using scrappage scheme?

  • I got extra £££ from a SEAT dealer on the scrappage scheme but it took some serious haggling.

Ford were the best for haggling. They dropped £700 off a 1.3 Fiesta Zetec as soon as I said "I'll think about it". That increased to £1000 as I got out of the seat.

As I said, the £2k vehicle scrappage allowance is in addition to any other discount you should be able to negotiate.

    It's definitely not.

    I managed it.

Dealers always have room to negotiate.

    Do tell.

My experience is the difference between a deal you can strike without scrappage and the deal you can strike with scrappage is never £2K.

For one example I have a much worked upon quotes from the same dealer for a peugeot 207 (not for me) and the difference is in the hundreds.

Take the £2000 scrappage as a given.

Ford, started at another £700 off and moved onto £1000. (Ford Fiesta 1.3 Zetec)

Mazda bartered down another £500 (Mazda T2)

Seat I secured and extra £500 off (New shape Ibiza 1.4SE Sport)

The Seat (Which I've ordered) equates to over 20% off list, which I would have been happy with in haggling from scratch.

Also 0% of 3 years with the Seat.

Peugeot are offering good deals at the moment on the 207 £3300 off I believe? (inc. scrappage)

    Fiat as well.

Up to £3700 of some Punto models IIRC.

Depends how expensive it is. The higher the price, the higher the profit, therefore the more room to negotiate.
