sounds ok to me....very short & to the point (although someone later may come along & suggest some additions...its still a little early for some of the regulars)

Good luck with court tomorrow....its not half as bad as your thinking it will be

Nope leave it as it is....I think it gets the point across very well (most courts/ORs prefer it shorter)

Hi, i'm really glad you all seem to be getting your debt problems sorted, very encouraging! I have a quick question if anyone could please answer? I am planning to apply for a debt relief order, my problem is that i fulfill all the criteria except that my car which was a gift from my mum for nursing my dad before he died is worth more than £1000 and is my pride and joy. Do I have to sell it and get something cheaper to qualify? Many thanks, fizzylemons

Hi, is the car registered in your name or in your mum's name? Saying that, just because it is registered in your name does not mean that you are the legal owner of the car. If your mum has a receipt or bill of sale addressed to her which proves that she bought the car then it should be safe as you can then prove that you did not buy it. I do hope that you get to keep it.

Welcome to flowerpot and moneylexic too! :T congratulations to you both :T

    Court tomorrow
Could someone look at my reason for bankruptcy and let me know if it is OK?? Thanks
I split from my husband in July 2007 and became a single mum. I now support myself and my 3 year old daughter. Before I was married in 2004, I had debts in my name, a loan taken out in 2002 when I was in a previous relationship with a man who couldnt get credit and needed the money. I thought I would spend the rest of my life with this man so happily took out the £15k loan to help him out. He consequently left me and left me with this hefty debt. I have had to refinance the loan a few times as it was hard to manage, causing me to run up overdrafts and borrow from family, but until now, I have managed, even now that I am a single mother. Recently my benefits have all reduced considerably due to the new tax year as my previous years earnings had increased, so it leaves me hardly any money spare after priority expenditure. I have recently discovered that I was looking at a £51k debt for a mortgage deficit on a house my ex-husband and I had to voluntarily repossess. My ex-husband is bankrupt and will not be liable for any of the debt, so it falls to me. My parents have helped me out considerably, paying for shortfalls and setting me up in my home when I split from my husband. In total I owe them approximately £3000 for all the money they have had to lend me to get through the last two years. They cant lend me any more and now, with the reduced benefits, I can see no other option than to go bankrupt. I have Crohns Disease, which is exasberated by stress, so not having people chasing me for money every day will certainly give me a better quality of life.

Hi, it all looks good to me and explains it well, not meaning to be picky but the word in red should read "exacerbated" - just so it's spelt right! Sorry! :o

he he...bless you, I'm even more disgusted with my spelling as I work within an editorial team for a local newspaper so they'd wet themselves if they new i'd spelt something wrong!! Good job my ex-husband doesnt have to type like you - he's a cockney and even I can't understand him :D
