No of course not - that would have been greedy.

I just had two of them and gave the third to DD :o

It is the end of day one, and I have spent precisely £0.00 :j

I missed the bus home, so instead of waiting an hour for the next one, started to walk instead.....thereby saving me £1.70, although in 3 inch heels, my feet are wishing I had waited for the bus and spent the money :o

So, 1 NSD so far......and a good start to the month.

    Total spent today £0.00
    Total spent this month £0.00

    :T

Thats a good idea - to keep a running total of what could have been avoided. Analyse as you go, sort of thing. I might have to do that.

Well, otherwise I will just look at the total amount spent and say "well, it was obviously all essential". If I know what could easily have been avoided, then that can be the first to cut out next month if needed.

I won't be analysing my shopping receipts from the normal grocery shop, because I am pretty good at sticking to my list built around my meal plan.

But things like coffees, ice creams, bars of chocolate, takeaways etc are obviously all unnecessary, so could be cut out if the budget doesn't allow for everything!

Anyway........spent £1.80 on bus far this morning. Normally I share a lift with OH but he is coming into work late as he has a hosp appt, so the bus couldn't be avoided. His bike is off the road this week waiting for the new brake bits to arrive, so he couldn't use that today.

    So.....total spend today - £4.19
total spend in June - £4.19

of which £1.00 could be avoided.

Couldn't you count the saved bus fare as plus £1.70? After all I'm guessing you don't count the bus fare each day as "spends" or you'd never manage a nsd on days you go to work!

I rarely get the bus - we have one car and a motorbike, and usually manage, sharing a lift, or I have the car and he goes on his bike if he is doing a double shift etc....but yesterday we intended lift sharing to come home, but then I worked late, so OH went home, and I got the bus (or would have done if I hadn't missed it!). Today, he had a hosp appt this morning - he needed the car because the bike was awaiting the brake pads - so I took the bus and he used the car.

So, it is just bad luck that two days I was subject to either bus or walk....Petrol is budgetted for, but "extra" like my bus fare is having to come out of the "where's the rest of the money disappearing to?" pot.....! It is essential in order to get me to work, but it is things like bus fare that can get forgotten in budgets because they are not regular....also, take £10 out of the cash machine to pay for a £1.80 journey, and before I know it the other £8.20 has gone as well......on nothing.....:o And I wonder why I can't make ends meet!

But....because I saved my busfare yesterday, and walked, I transferred £1.70 to a savings account as a sort of compromise :T

Tescos have delivered, so that is £75.39.......and I spent 80p earlier on some squash for the children when they were skiing. It was hot and they needed a drink, but it could have been avoided if they had filled a bottle of water before they left home.......so it will have to go down as "avoidable".

    So....total for today - £80.38
    total for June - £80.38

of which £1.80 could have been avoided :o
