I've been using stardrops for years, mainly because it's the one thing my Nan always used
But I always used it neat
thanks to this thread I use it in a spray bottle now and a botle lasts for ages. I bought a HUGE bottle in Asda last month for 50p. I had to buy it even though I had 2 bottles under the sink
hannoja It doesn't do my hands any good either, my b/f thinks I've got dermatitis (sp?) and the powdery stuff on the insides of rubber gloves seems to make it worse
Big up to stardrops, it's clean anything and everything :TReal men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0 -
i have used stardrops for years. do you know you can get grout off tiles as well with stardrops one wash one rinse and thats it ! had my bathroom tiled 5 years ago and used stardrops its better than all the grout and tile cleaners on the market, and a lot cheaper0

I was in Asda yesterday and bought the new 1L bottle of yellow stardrops for 98p.
They hadn't had any for a while and I guess they were waiting for the new sized bottle.0 -
AMERSALL : do you use a cloth or scrubber for this?my kitchen floor tiles were " thrown "down quickly and some are still covered with a thin layer of the grout,it really attracts dirt!yeuk!0

Thanks for the tipI'll definatley spend more money for decent gloves and I'll make sure I get some next time I'm out shopping :T
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

I wonder what their last price was for the old 600ml bottle, and what that was in pence per litre? The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

The price of the 600ml was anything from 55p to 75p. I paid on average 68p so I dont think its gone up at all0 -
Saw a couple of bottles of Stardrops I haven't seen before the other day in Savers. A green 'pine' one (ex Starpine?) and a 'creamy-looking' one (Starclen - the ammonia one I assume). I love the smell of pine so got that one. I'll get the ammonia one next time.
Stardrops is a sod on my hands, but I still love it. I hate wearing gloves to clean, so I guess it's my fault my hands get so dry with it. A few applications of shea/cream/etc. sort it out though. I've got the vinegar/water/stardrops solution too, in an old Fairy power spray bottle, and it's great. I add a few drops of lemon essential oil to mine to 'tame' the vinegar smell. I put the lemon in my vinegar/water spray too for the same reason. The vinegar smell doesn't tend to linger too long anyway, and it's good at taking other smells away with it (e.g. baby wee ).
I usually get my Stardrops in Asda: in the middle of the cleaning products aisle, right down on the bottom shelf: pretty easy to miss.
I spent Saturday cleaning our rented flat for our deposit and by the time we got back home, my hands looked like I had been using them to sift through a barrel of porridge oats they were so dry. Slathered them with some hand lotion and put on some latex gloves and they were silky smooth again by the time I went to bed. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -
I just love this stuff! Have just cleaned my shower stall with it for the first time and there is not a bit of watermark left anywhere. I used it neat in one of those washing up things with a hollow handle - it's like a sponge/green scourer that you put on the end. Filled up with neat stardrops and scrubbed away at the tiles, got a bit weak by the time I was round to the glass sides and just wiped over. When I rinsed off both tiles and glass were spotless so I guess I didn't need to use all that energy scrubbing in the first place!
I am a total convert, can't wait to finish all the cleaners I have in the house so that I can fill the spray bottles with stardrops mixtures:
neat for shower cubicle
third each of stardrops, vinegar and water for general use
dilute stardrops for a daily shower spray
tsp stardrops to half vinegar/half water for windows, mirrors etc.
What a saddo! I can't believe I'm raving about cleaning products0
