Karen, if the other lot didnt know about the problems, I reckon they will back out.

Reading between the lines there - the management were waiting for more info from the other buyer at 2.30 - then other buyer didnt know about probs til 3 p.m. Does this mean the asset company asked them how they were going to finance the purchase, they say by mortgage and then learn about the probs??

Hold on - its still in your court Im sure.
  • They don't just have to be seen to get the most possible for the property, they have to get it. How about sparing a little of your worry for the poor sucker who lost their home. Calm down and get things in perspective.

I dont think that is a very constructive comment in this situation thankyou!! I am fully aware that a family have lost their home and unfortunately, it is happening alot at the moment but if it means that I can provide a much better home for my family then that is my number one priority!!! I am also pretty sure that I do have things in perspective and realise what a HUGE big deal this is for me and my family.
  • More advice needed please..................

My Dad and my Grandad have both suggested I give THEM a deadline today and tell them that if they dont get back to us with a decision by 2pm that we are withdrawing our offer otherwise, they say we will continue to get messed around and the longer it takes, the better position the other bidders could be in?!

Is this advisable or are they likely to turn round and tell us to sod off??!!

Never make threats you are not prepared to carry out.

You could phone the estate agent and ask what else they have on their books, even arrange a viewing or two. Tell them you feel that there is a delay that is beyond your control so you are prepared to look at other things.

I agree with Silvercar. Use more subtle ways to make them worry about losing your offer. Tell the estate agent you are ready to start looking at other properties but leave this repossessed one hanging in there.

why are people so rude about people buying repossesions. It makes me mad.
The people that are buying the repos are actually doing the people that lost them a favour, getting them out of some of their debt!!!

Yes I know its not nice that they lost their house, but thats life im afraid!!!!

I think we need to remember that a lot of these reposessed homes were buy to lets, so not quite the same as a family losing their lifes savings.

Without knowing the exact circs, I dont think anyone should be so cruelly critical.

Don't just ask what is available. Embark on a frenetic search around all the estate agents in town, and arrange lots of viewings. Apart from putting some pressure on the EAs, you never know, something good may turn up.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

You don't think it's constructive because it's not what you want to hear. I don't blame you for getting this house, and at the best possible price, but whether its stress from the process or just the way you are, you do sound a bit hysterical. If you can't take opinions different to your own, I suggest you stop ranting like a lunatic on a public forum. Calm down and just get on with buying your house.
