Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sat 30 May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. Bright and sunny day by the looks of it, horrible strong winds have dropped, so it should be quite warm and safe to get the pumpkins out on the garden. Last week the wind snapped the few I had in pots.

Don't know what plans are. We will have to deliver some job apllications to schools for the OH as the deadline is Monday and the post won't get them there.

Glad to finish work on Friday after the stress of the week. It was nice to leave knowing that everything was finished up...

Books to balance, chickens to clean out and walk the dog to the paper shop, should complete early morning.

Anyway have a nice day

Morning N9eav and all that follow

Its a fabulous morning and I'm planning on getting the kids out to the park early this morning as yesterday we left it till nearly dinner and it was too hot for ys.In fact it was too hot for all of us:eek:

Its Saturday and the FA cup is on later so will curl myself up on the sofa and watch Everton kick Chelsea's backsides:rotfl:

OS wise I've got a mountain of ironing to tackle and a load of washing to put out.Dining room carpet needs shampooing as MD decided to upend a jar of jam with a loose lid yesterday and hey presto she wore loads of it but so did the carpet:D.Kitchen needs a mop on and I've some sewing to do.YD is six on Tuesday so I'd like to get her cake made and frozen as I find they handle better when made in advance and decorated on the day.

Whatatwit if you're reading this I will go in pursuit of the mincemeat cake recipe today as I ran round like a headless chicken yesterday and didnt have time to find it.I'll pm it to you when I find it

MSD-You are way too quiet and its getting scary now so please post today. If the worst has happened please let us know or even if you are just busy in the garden a couple of lines of your purple prose will ease my mind

Pen-pin-Hope the lovely weather we are having is also with you and you are making the most of it.I also hope that you have managed to sort the meds out now

    Good morning everyone.
No lie in for me (unless I count DD sleeping til 6am a lie in!). Was up at 4.30am as DS seemed to think is was getting up time. I thought I would get chance to have a lie in but H decided last night he wasn't that tired and so decided to come to bed at 1am. So now he's tired and I've got up with DD as it's just easier. Am I miffed? Just a teeny bit. I pull early shift all week and Saturday is my one chance to have a lie in. But clearly not today.
Anyway moving on to OS after my minor rant!
Got bread to make, not sure what's for tea as I haven't even looked at the planner :o
Got all the washing up to date and dried yesterday which was fab. Now just the ironing to sort out (although that's normally H's job).
Am loving the sunshine. Broccoli looked a bit wilted during the day so gave them a really good drink and a feed last night. Will pop out in a mo and check on them.
Need to check our old family tent as am going to sell it second hand. Its only been used about 6 times but want to make sure it's in tip top condition before advertising. Also need to clean DS/DD old pramette. It's too heavy for use with the kids now (and I have a double one anyway) so surplus to requirements. So that will be put in the paper to sell too.

Had a lovely day in the garden with friends and their children over yesterday afternoon. Pretty sure we will spend most of today out there too as DS is definately an "outdoors" boy!

N9eav - enjoy your walk with the pooch, if it's anything like here it's blue sky and sunshine. Pity the poor things in this heat with their fur coats!

Hope you all have a great weekend, OS or not.

    Morning all,

Another bright beautiful day here, need to tidy through and mop the floors, I have a load of towels in the wm at the moment, which I will get out on the line.

Need to take little dog out for a nice long walk today, and tonight I have 4 teens coming for tea, and to get ready here and then they are all off to a concert, and two of them plus dd are coming back for a sleepover

They have requested (im quite ashamed to say this :o) alphabetti spagetti, smiley potato faces and nuggets for tea  so that is what they are having, I am sure I will be glad of the peace once they have gone for the evening.

Squiggly nice to see you posting again, and well done on finishing your dissatertation (sp), we will have to see if we can get you addicted to gardening now :D

Diva, hope you are ok hun, if you dont feel like posting, drop someone a pm to let us know you are ok xx

Ok wm finished, have a good day all xx

I think you'll find it will be the other way round :p:whistle::footie::rotfl:

Morning everyone, IL's are coming round this afternoon to watch Chelsea win the FA Cup :p Need to clean the bathroom and run the hoover round, prep the veg lalalalala

Spent a fortune at Costco yesterday  £180, still we won't have to go shopping for at least a month (with the exception of milk and fresh fruit/veg) so it may have been money saving ;)

I bought some tumble drier sheets not so long ago (half price ;)) the seal on the packet has sprung open and they appear to have dried out  However, I have found a new *better* use for them, they are fantastic at dusting my dark wooden blinds, and my tv stand (shiny black) they attract the dust and it seems to stay off for longer

Dinner tonight will be roast lamb, yorkies, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, peas, gravy and mint sauce, followed by Eton mess

    Have a lovely Saturday
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

    Morning all
I've cooked hubby his breakfast & dropped him at work, he should only be there for a few hours.
I need to water the garden before it gets too hot & then go & get hubby some more tee shirts. We also need some more compost to top up the spuds, but hubby will go nuts if I go & get something like that as he hates me lifting heavy things.
I'm feeding the neighbours cats this evening & tomorrow as they are getting married today, the neighbours, not the cats, lol.
I think I may have another dog lodger during the summer holiays, so that is 4 weeks out of the 6 taken care of.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good Morning All

MSD - yes where are you:confused: come back:D

Stunning day here in Essex, been up a while doing a couple of essential things in the office. Just about to jump in the bath then am going to reduce the ironing pile. Hope to get a load done so can get in the garden this afternoon, have also promised DD a bike ride down the sea wall. OH serviced our bikes yesterday so no excuses.

Will be barbeque for tea, just need to take some pork chops out of the freezer have ribs and burgers too. I am really trying to resist making the comment "Im a bit too hot" but I reckon I will not be able to stop myself at somepoint today :rotfl:

More washing will be done but think the housework will be ignored.

    Have a lovely day

A beautiful day here again too :j I'm taking DS3 to see Night at the Museum 2 with my Mum this afternoon so I'm looking forward to that. This morning I've got 1 load of washing pegged out & another 2 to go. I went to bed with a migraine at 5pm yesterday & DH & the kids forgot to keep an eye on one of our cats who will piddle inside if not put out regularly  I came down to a lovely smell of cat pee so have stripped the covers off the sofa & poured biological washing powder through the foam base  At least it's going to be hot enough to dry everything. Minestrone soup, crusty bread & fruit salad & ice cream for tea tonight. It'll use up the bendy veg in the fridge and some of the fruit too. Just want to hoover through, mop the downstairs floors and clean the bathroom now.

Essex Girl Hope your migraine is cleared now I sympathise hugely with you.

Redruby My eldest 3 are all looking for weekend jobs too but there doesn't seem to be much going. DS2 went for a washing up job in a local pub the other day and was one of 25 people stood in the queue.

Diva I'm worried about you now please let us know that you are ok ((((hugs))))

Enjoy the football to whoever is watching it. My DH was looking forward to it but work phoned him last night and asked him to cover todays shift 8am till 8pm - whats the betting someone else has phone in 'sick' to watch the match ;) He'll listen to it on a radio I'm sure.

Hope that everyone has good days in the sunshine xxx
