Leasve the FREEBIE board alone.
Actually, I think thats not correct as you appear to have ignored those who have voted for change by voting for the middle option (unless they've all voted in the last 10 minutes)dobbiesloan wrote:386 views so far and only 22 think we should change. Martin must be on holiday or he would never have allowed this.
So put another way, over 43% of those who expressed a preference would like it to change.
...and, less than 10% (37) of viewers have voted for it to stay the way it is!
Don't you just love statistics
(for the record, I actually prefer it to stay as it is)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Should be Freebies and under 50 pence.FYI not everyone watches TV like a couch potatoe and I must say that without these posts I would never see the Ads that people mention!! Maybe I am sad or maybe I have a life as I am far too hectic with small kids to sit glued in front of the box all day watching Tricia!
When I do get a few moments to myself I enjoy looking at the offers that people post up on MSE, I don't buy hard copies of newspapers (usually read the news online) so when someone tells me about an offer in one of the Nationals I am always grateful!
Not everyone lives their life the way that you do and not everyone has the same opinions but lets keep it civil and stop this NONSENSE of bikkering with each other - people are entitled to their own opinions and if you dont like it, maybe say so but don't be so mean!!Official DFW Nerd 210

Hi everyone

We discussed this on the Freebies board a couple of years ago (blimey time flies  ) and Martin agreed the Freebies board should be for everything that's completely free or has a very minimal spend in proportion to the value of the freebie.
So basically that means things like gifts with magazines and newspapers etc aren't free as you have to spend to get them but if it's just the price of one second class stamp or a quick phone call then that's fair enough.
While I'm here, can you try to keep the discussion a tad friendlier please? Whatever your opinion I think some of the comments above could have been said just as well in a much nicer way!
Andrea

Hi,
I have just posted a freebie that technically shouldn't be there.
See for yourself
Officially, this would end up on a board statistically visited by about 1/5 of those that would take advantage of it on the freebie board, therefore 4/5 of MSE'ers would miss out.
I spend a LOT of my time scouring the 'net for freebies and frequently come across these examples and because few people will get the benefit of me posting it, I generally don't bother. I KNOW many other posters of freebies feel the same. What is the point of going to all of the time and trouble if no-one sees it?
Or worse still, you will get the IDIOTS on this forum that take a great deal of pleasure in shooting the poster down in flames for his efforts.
Comments like those above and worse are very common on here and, take it from me, will result in a lot of people simply not bothering! Comments like 'It's already been posted, five days ago', when thanks to a repost, another 20 or so people have taken it up.
So, it occured to me, that since you can't shut these infantile posters up, it'd be easier to take some of their toys away by making the Freebie board a little more versatile and thereby enabling more people to receive them.
Thanks Andrea for taking the trouble to comment!
And thanks to everyone that has taken the time to vote!"Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
Good thread rizla!!
Nothing in life is totally "free", you will always have to spend a little something. A stamp, electric to watch the tv or use the computer, you have to pay for the paper you see the ad in, even if it's a free paper you still have to pick the item up which means petrol, bus fare or the soles of your shoes.
This is a site to save money, and those items that are classed as "free" or have a minimum spend do that so I think Martin would be pretty fine with this
Keep up the good finds peeps, they are well apreciated!!I live in my own little world, but it's ok as everyone knows me here

Should be Freebies and under £1.00Personally I use the whole of MSE, but most days I just pop by the freebies forum for 10 minutes to see what's new. If there's something I like the look of, but requires a stamp I don't sit here thinking, "Oh my, a whole stamp?! Couldn't possibly do that!" whilst looking at a book full of 2nd class's sitting on my desk. Seriously, how many people don't have an odd stamp and envelope kicking around? You probably bought them months ago and they're sitting there wasting away!
At the end of the day if you're too tight to put a stamp on an envelope for something then that's your choice, but some of us are happy to do that to get an item. It's still infinatly cheaper than buying whatever-it-is from a shop.
As for newspapers, you either buy it or you don't. If you're going to buy it anyway, why not be forwarned that there's a coupon inside? You might miss it and leave it on the train for Joe Bloggs to find! If you don't buy the paper because you don't want the coupon, then what have you lost? 2 minutes of your time reading the post. So what?!
I'd rather know about an offer and then make the decision as to wether or not I want to spend the 20p to get it.
Just my opinion!

Not bad.
39 want a change and 54 want it left.
Good result so far I think."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
