Not sure how the postcode would help in this case. It would have shown as correct when checked at the sending PO and probably is correct. Remember a postcode is not unique to one property - mine is the same as 29 other houses!!! If the buyer said block 15 and there is no block 15 in postcode AB1 2CD then what are the RM to do ??

Say your postcode, AB1 2CD, covers 1-30 Smith Street, and someone sends a letter addressed to 78 Smith Street AB1 2CD instead of 7 Smith Street, then where do RM deliver it?? The postcode is "right" but the address isn't. Don't forget, the postie delivering Special Delivery stuff is almost certainly in a van, not on a round, so has no prior knowledge of names & house/flat numbers to go by, or even a bag full of mail to check names against.

IMO RM will not honour this claim - the buyer gave an incorrectly formatted address, regardless of whether it has worked previously or not. Tough on the buyer - maybe they should learn to give out the correct address. Now they've been collected then I don't think the buyer stands a chance via Ebay/Paypal either. Certainly I wouldn't refund them, until forced to - and even then under protest. Any feedback been left yet?

the postcode is just an indicator to see if its the right street and what the site shows

i dont know why you think walk posties dont do SD's,they do them every day

dont get me started on wrong addresses though,im on a new delivery with all tenement stairs
now you should see all the wrong addresses there, probably 1/3 of the items everyday are incorrect in some form

I didn't say that - I said it was "almost certainly a van" seeing as it was SD 9AM service rather than the 1PM service. How many of you walk posties are out delivering before 9am nowadays?

my normal postman delivers the 9am parcels, we've had a few and he just alters his round slightly and delivers the 9am parcels first

when i send things special they have to put the house number in the system as well as the postcode, cant count the number of times ive had to come home and recheck the address as the system cant find it.

so if there was no block 15 the post office staff should have picked this up .

The buyer has now taken out a paypal dispute. Should I refund them?

Is the dispute for Not as Described, or for Not Received?

Your first step is to enter the tracking details into the dispute to show it has been delivered and take it from there,

Very sneaky! I'm guessing they knew they wouldn't get anywhere with "Item not received"...

You'll just have to reply to the dispute, state they were event tickets sold on <date> and delivered to their chosen paypal address on <date>, so were exactly as described, and the buyer is now returning useless tickets as the event has passed.

You might even want to phone paypal and ask their advice on how to play this.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
