Perhaps they should stop selling booze altogether, as you might be buying it for someone under-age regardless of whether they happen to be with you!0

you do not need id for alchohol free. i work in a off licence and asked the police who patrol shops for challenge 21 about this, you can sell this to anyone0

My OH used to work in a corner shop that sold booze...he had to ID anyone who might be under 25 or he risked losing his job.
He has told my that once there was a lad he ID'd who couldn't provide any id so he wouldn't serve him. The lad's father then came into the shop and tried to buy the same product (my OH knew it was his dad because we went to the same school as him - so my OH knew the lad was underage anyway) OH refused to serve the lad's dad because he was buying the alcohol for his son. The dad went completely beserk and got banned from the shop for his behaviour.
It just so happened that the area manager was in the store when this happened and told my OH he had done the right thing..if he had served the dad he could have lost his job there and then.0 -

Technically no unless you were purchasing on a joint card or cheque account;)
At the end of the day, it is totally the retailer's perrogative to sell you anything, even let you on to their premises. If they say no, no it shall be.0 -
Hi. Sorry to hijack the thread but where does this 'check 25' policy come from? Why 25? As far as I know if you are 18 you can legally drink in the UK. So where did the extra seven years come from? Sorry also if there is a really obvious answer to this which I haven't spotted.0

:D:D:D it would make my job a lot easier, it is sometimes hard to guess how old someone is, i asked for id once, the lad looked about 17, he was 30!!!!! we had a laugh about it and he says he always gets asked and thinks its great:cool:

Lol I remeber a famous occasion in our house where my sis (only 18 at the time) came home absolutely fuming when Waitrose, as she put it, 'IDed' her for 0%! Ahhh Memories...The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.
