I think if you call them Marc they will let you have the new card there has been talk that everyone was going to get there cards replaced but we have not seen that happen as yet.

Let us know how you get on with the card as some have said the new Visa Debit card still works like an electron because of some problems that co-op are apparently aware of.

Well I have used my Visa Electron on about 15 gambling sites now with no problem, Coral, Ladbrokes etc, they all take it, I've not had a single one thats refused it. So Tesco have no excuse for not accepting Electron. I will be sticking with my Electron now, as I'm happy with it, I am a Tesco customer, but I don't shop online for groceries, but if I wanted to in the future I'd just have to shop elsewhere, I wouldn't go out of my way to shop at Tesco if they aren't making it easy for me.

Vote with your feet & shop elsewhere? Its no big deal that Tesco don't want us, shouldn't really have to go through all this bother just to shop there should we? If you need a proper visa debit for other things like train ticket machines than that is fair enough.
  • ,I recently opened a Cash minder account with co op over the phone and approximately 10 days later revieved my new visa debit card and a pin number the day after that. Having read all the threads I thought I would add that I went to Asda on saturday and made a purchase and yet according to my online banking the transaction has not gone through yet as hasnt affected my balance or available balance. To me this says it is a full visa debit as I have a visa electron card and a solo one and when ever I have used them at Asda they have sought authorisation instantly. I hope this helps and sorry for any spelling or grammer errors

Unfortunately it still isn't accepted at certain retailers ie TESCO's and M&S!

Tesco;s is ok in store just not online. It does take a couple of days for the transactions to come off your online statement so you do have to budget carefully in you dont have much money which i have had to become a pro at.

Co-op's online banking does not update very quickly. Cash withdrawals seem to appear immediately but retail transactions take a few days. The available balance and actual balance remain the same during this period. If you go to a cash machine though, the actual amount available is correct.

Online banking only shows cash withdrawals, direct debits or transfers between accounts immediately, which is pants.
I always phone customer services and ask for an 'available balance' to check what moeney i have in my bank.
