Co-op Cashminder Visa Debit Card

Right I've tried it from a different angle. I've jut rang Tesco's and was put throught to their technical dept - a very sweet young man called Colin listened to my problem and in his opinion Tesco's Visa system is updated daily, so that if a bank changes it's card system ie changes from electron to Visa debit this should be quickly updated, He's sent the details up to the visa dept and he's promised to ring me tomorrow with an answer. He can't see why theres a problem, he seems to think other banks have done the same thing and had no problems, so I will await his phonecall (but I won't be holding my breath):mad:0

Would be interesting to see if the problem lies with Co-op or Tesco etc.0

But isnt it the co op or visas responsibility to ensure that retailers make the change?Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
May I throw a theoretical spanner in the works?
In the old days, when we used to pay for goods with bits of paper and metal bearing the sovereigns likeness, it was an offence to refuse such tender, by that I mean it was a legal requirement that a trader parted with goods when presented with the correct amount of legal tender for said goods that the trader had asked for.
So why is it that this basic principle no longer applies? Regardless of how the payment for said goods is presented to the trader?
It may be a non starter, as it seems that the old ways have been lost forever, but they are still law as far as I knowThey claim their labours are to build a heaven, yet their heaven is populated with horrors. Perhaps the world is not made, perhaps nothing is made?
Its too late, always has been, always will be.

Im right with you - I try and use cash when ever i can now. I think its just laziness that makes me use a card somehow, and you loose track. However i dont think your method will work for ordering on line at tesco's. unless you can figure out a way to fax em the notes!AD - 23/04/20100 -

If I found a trader that would send goods on the strength of a faxed note, trust me, I would keep it to myself:p
In all seriousness though, there is some method in my madness, times may have changed, but the theory is sound, it just needs dragging, kicking and screaming if necessary, into the modern age, the face of legal tender may have changed, but the spirit behind it has not.
I feel some traders need reminding of that.
The question is how? They claim their labours are to build a heaven, yet their heaven is populated with horrors. Perhaps the world is not made, perhaps nothing is made?

what really drives me nuts is those who will only take credit cards for stuff.
that drives me wild. and my mates who I have to ring up and get them to do it and then transfer them the money.
It can cause real problems as well as the credit card is not registered to your address or in your name or whatever.
talking of that actually, I remember someone telling me ages ago about a pay as you go credit card. Has anyone got / seen / used one of these? do they work same as normal credit cards? do they cost anything?AD - 23/04/20100 -
Yes there are charges for a payg credit card but some find the usefulness far outways the cons. The one most people have is this one
