My friend got fired as a temp from his last job because he was filling out his job forms incorrectly, and no one in the company could be bothered to mention or train him. He is an in-house Pc support engineer and the form filling was nothing major, but it was easier to get a new replacement, thant to train.
Now my friend is applying for other jobs. for doing minor email roll-out work, one Agency gives him £12 before tax and another agency for the same role (in a different org and agency) gives him £16.75 before tax but both jobs cost the end user £18 p/h
I feel the £16.75 agency (badenoch and clark) treated him very fairly and curtiously over the number of years I have known him, but it may be just a branch thing too.0 -

Good Luck With The Jobhunt.
Oh really? Who pays the agencies to sign new people on their books then?
Of course the agency only gets paid for making a placement. Would you pay someone for a service not received?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

Not you the Temp.
I had 1 or 2 minor arguments/disagreements and the client would ALWAYS ring your agency when you were on lunch or after you had gone home!!
On one assignment I had left to go home, I got home and my wife said X had rung and told me NOT to go back to X place tomorrow!!
Crazy!!
Why didn't they tell me to my face?0 -
Could not agree with you more ! -Agencies are so far up their clients backsides that if they attempted to get up any further, they would disappear !
The customer is always right."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
Its all too easy to tar the agencies with the same brush and I am aware of all their little tricks, but for me it all comes down to the individual recruitment consultant, some are fantastic, the rest are clueless.
I have had great experiences with Agencies in the past, Especially Hayes and Reed. And since my oh was made redundant Hayes have been great, found her a great temp role within a 3 days of being redundant and have put her forward for a number of good perm roles, of which she secured a well paid and cushy job.0 -

At the end of the day the agencies are only in it for themselves. i.e to make money for the consultants !!!. several leading high street named agencies in my area have closed down due to the economic downturn. Finding people work is second priority.0 -
When copying a quote of someone- it is always courteous to show the whole quote so that people know the full facts !!!!! - Not just the bit you want to show !!!!!!
May I proffer my most humble apologies, I shall refrain what that in future postings, I didnt realise that part quoting was a breach of forum etiquette.0
