vikki_louise wrote: »Hi everyone, I've not been on this thread for ages as I became too ill to do nappy cakes. Now doing the odd one and so happy to be doing them again. Sad I couldnt turn it into a proper business (health wise) as I can't believe how many nappy cake sellers are out there now that are really bad and just wrapped in tons of cello to hide it!
What cuddly toys are everyone using at the moment? I used my last asda fathers day lion yesterday which I'm gutted about, I got some more last year which have darker hair and football boots on but they just don't look right to me
I did a cream/brown cake the other week but other than that I don't remember the last pink one I did, everyone seems to be having boys at the moment!
I look forward to catching up on this thread and seeing your lovely cakes

I use these
They are lovely, especially the cream ones. Can I ask where you get them please? I've seen the night time/sleep ones wholesale but they were quite expensive.

This is my first ever nappy cake. I used :-
35 size 2 huggies newborn
A towel and mitt
3 pairs of socks
2 pairs of scratch mitts
2 muslins
2 bottles of johnsons products
elephant soft toy
vibrating frog (my dd really wanted this)
it cost approx £20 so not as cheap as I would have liked but I think it looked fab.
Thanks for all your guidance xxx0 -

Do you all think the market is now saturated with Nappy Cake makers?
When I started there were very few people making in my area. It now seems that loads of people are making them.
Gone are the days when people would say they had never seen or heard of nappy cakes
I'm just catching up on this thead. I had a mini panic earlier in the year, I have goodness knows how many £'s of stock (I stopped doing cakes for a bit as I wasn't well enough) and suddenly it seems anyone and everyone is making them. Can't stop coming across them on fb and I'm not even looking! I'm hoping as they came so into fashion they won't go outBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Hi can anyone tell me the best place to buy boxes for posting cakes out, ThankyouIf you have any hints and tips on the old thread tell me what number post it is i will copy and paste it and put it here so easy too find
Thanks to Moonpenny
Lay the blanket face down on bed (diamond shape) with hood nearest to you, (but underneath.)
Start folding from top pointed bit down to start of hood. Then fold hood bit up.
Start with approx 4 inch fold but if it doesn’t work out you might have to unfold and try again, smaller or bigger folds until its right, Usually takes 4 or 5 folds.
At this point I pin the strip so it doesn’t fall apart when I put around cake.
COUNT THE PINS to make sure you’ve removed them all.
When putting around cake, pull slightly to get a snug fit and either overlap one end over other at back or tuck one end into other. (Bit fiddly doing this) Pin together till you get ribbon on then remove or use a safety pin.
You won’t need to put anything in to hold the front up as it stays up on its own.

with regards to toys we SHOULD leave the tag on them, if not and we get a visit from trading standards we will be asked to remove them from sale. thought i should pass it on since a few of you are selling to shops it might be worth knowing.

baby sock cupcakes
You need:
Pair of socks
Cupcake papers/silicone case
Place the pair of socks together and roll them up starting with the bottom of the sock.
When you have completed rolling the socks, take the open end of one sock and open it out and slip it up halfway on the socks.
I promise it makes sense when you are making them.0
