Could you use large safety pins, I think they are basically the same? If you can I got a sewing set from pound land and it had quite alot of different sized safety pins.
I am feeling a bit low today about nappy cakes, I have had a nose through a few sites on facebook and the cakes that are getting the orders are all made with really cheap things and obviously also cheaply priced. They are using pound shop blankets and towels, I use items I would be happy to receive and use myself and this puts prices up. Seems though at the minuite as long as it looks a large gift and it's cheap then thats what sells. Sorry for the rant but its really got to me x
Looking forward to new ventures

    Hi all,

I have been lurking on this thread for months, reading about your nappy cake adventures and enjoying the pictures of your gorgeous cakes. :p

My niece is 7 months pregnant so I decided to give a cake a go!

It is my first time and although I am pleased with the cake I have made, I feel there is much to be improved.

I would appreciate opinions from you if you don't mind helping me. I don't mind being told something needs changing or adding etc, that is what i am here for.

The cake is quite plain but I was going for the 'less is more' look, I don't want it too busy but if you think it is too plain I would appreciate your honesty. Thanks :)

Thats a lovely nappy cake, I dont think you need to go over the top with them. I'm about to embark on my second one, the first I made 4 years ago for my sister who was having a little boy, this time its for my daughter and although the midwife has said at both scans they are 70% sure its a girl I'm going for a fairly neutral colour scheme as you never know, but she is due in 5 days so I best get my skates on ...... Hope to be able to post a pic when I've finished it.
