  • Hi Im Fran im new to this but ive become addicted I think as ive been reading since page 1 of the threads lol.

I am hoping to start up doing nappy cakes etc and you guys are so talented ive decided to ask for help as would hate to give my friend a complete horrible mess for her new bundle due soon.

Can I ask how you tie the nappies together, what do you use?
Also how do you keep the blankets secure that wrap around the nappies?

    Thanks everyone

Not sure if anyone knows the shop Tiger (http://www.tigerstores.co.uk/) went in on my luch break and they have cellophane wrap, 5m, for £1. Cheaper then what I am paying at the moment.

Hi Fran, I have only joined in the last few days too, these ladies are a wealth of knowledge :) I use little clear elastic bands that I got off e*bay. There were advertised as being used for hair braiding but do a perfect job. As for the blankets, I wrap ribbon around them however I struggle trying to keep the blankets in place while wrapping the ribbon around!! I put pins in once and as soon as I let go and lifted the tier the pins popped out lol :(

    Hi Ann
Try using a peg or one of the clips that hairdressers use to keep your hair out of the way, if you know what I mean lol...... Janey x :)

Ah yes, I know exactly what you mean, brilliant idea Janey, I shall try it out when I make some the weekend :). Where can I get actual nappy pins? Haven't seen them in years. I tried the dress making pins but they just wouldn't hold anything, popped out all over the place lol

Love the cakes Sarah, never seen a stork bundle before, its lovely.

Reagrding 3 tier cakes, I can never seem to get the bottom tier big enough to fit two more on top. How many nappies/items do you put on each layer? I made one yesterday with 31 nappies and I still managed to only get a 2 tier cake! Maybe I am packing them too tightly.
  • Ive been reading all the old posts to try and get to grips with my new found obsession lol and see most people use size 3 nappies is this right?? My little boy has just gone into size 5 and is 2yrs next month so isnt it a little large for a nappy cake?
