    Janey - gorgeous, love them!

I don't use the rose buds for mine I make daisies from florist ribbon.

How did everyone do who were attending events this weekend. Mine weren't great just a few sock cupcakes and a couple of lolly pops although someone I know who makes chocolates is hoping to come up with her own baby shower gifts using my things which is a big help. All good experience though and was some time away from my terrible 2 year old!

I did my first craft fair yesterday and it was terrible. I didn't even make my stall money back, but the whole event just lacked customers. All the stall holders were complaining and from speaking to them, it seems that hardly anyone made their money back, so we were all in the same boat.

I thought it was going to be in a room attached to the local hospital, but it turns out that the function room was quite out of the way and quite a walk from the hospital. I think if I had known where it was, I wouldn't have booked it. It was just so quiet.Oh well, live and learn.

I did get a lot of really nice compliments though and some possible orders from other stallholders who have friends who are pregnant and I gave some cards out.

Such a shame, I'm not sure I made the money back really either. I was chatting to another stall holder and she said that she didn't realise that they were charging entry and she probably wouldn't have bothered. It was in a hotel and I was thinking that people there for lunch etc. might pop in but I suppose if you're with a lot of people the cost adds up.

Here's hoping you get some people come back to you

  • Please can I be added to the facebook pages. I am Sweet Cheeks Nappy Cakes, or Sharon Johnson.
I have been asked to do a fair at a local fair in a park. It is run by the council and will be really busy - nervous about it. Want to make loads of my cupcakes and feeding cup sundaes, as they are normally my best sellers. Its not until April 14th/15th but better start to get sorted.

    Hello every one.
My craft fair was a little more successful this time. Especially as the turn out was very low. I took £45 so was really pleased as it was only my second craft fair. I also took an order for sweetie table decorations which was a bit strange as nothing on my store related to this really but I am loving the task. I also got asked if i could do demonstrations at a ladies group, I am going on Wednesday to check it out and see what they are wanting.
I am hoping to find some more fairs as i have no more booked.
I am also struggling finding teddies suitable from birth the correct size that looks good. Also making lables, they never look as good as I hoped.
Looking forward to new ventures

Morning ladies :) Popped into Tesco yesterday and had a look in their clearence aisle. They had Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet plush teddies for £5 each. When I got to the till they came up as £2.50 each. I also got some other toys for £1.50 again in their clearence aisle. Not sure if they are in every store but thought it was worth mentioning.

Just wondering how do you make cupcakes and feeding cups? They all look so good but when I make them they look very flat not fluffly like everyone elses and I'm not sure how to wrap the sock around to get the shape either. I did make lolli pops though :)

The label didn't say if the toys were suitable for any age so I bought them. I did look into toys being suitable from birth as I am finding it diffiuclt to find any and I came across this link:

    http://www.bestyears.co.uk/blog/soft-toy-wholesaler-safety-myths

Point one says that all toys (as of July 2011) have to be suitable from birth.

Its all very confusing and I don't know what do to :(
Buy with an age or not?
  • Hi, yes all soft toys must be manufactured and tested to be suitable from birth. they also must be machine washable (and not just surface washable). I have some information here but if you buy toys marked with CE and EN71 then they will be ok to use for babies
