I was just wondering, for those that sell and post your cakes how do you pack them? It took me ages to find a box just the right size last week! I am yet to find out if it got there in one piece so am panicking about that, bloody parcel force! It was meant to be there saturday but it didn't turn up and when I track it it says in progress so I am hoping it's not lost or damaged
So yeah, do you buy boxes in bulk if so from where or how do you send them?
Hi
I have my boxes made and have 50 at a time mainly because I don't have the room to store them, you can however buy them in packs of 25 which is the minimum order and I prefer white as they look more professional than brown, just my opinion though, my cakes fit snug into the box and can't move and are well packed, I mark the box with 'this way up' tape and send them out all the time using a courier, I have never had one damaged as yet.
I don't use parcel force far to expensive and I would be suprised if you could get a Saturday delivery for anything under £20, Saturday deliveries always cost a lot more than normal shipping costs.

All seemed really good to start off with but I dont think they have done any seo. I started to get a few more visitors when I took out an adwords campaign. I want to change loads on there but when I email them they are not answering me - bery annoying. They have said I can buy it off them for £800, but I am no website designer!
Hi
Don't, thats extortionate for your website, they have probably done no SEO on your website and the reason you have no sales as yet is because no-one can find you.
You are currently on page 10 of Google, as you will know yourself people don't usually search through pages and pages as they have normally found what they are looking for either on page 1 or maybe 2, 3 anything beyond that you are going to struggle, you need to ask your website designer what SEO he has done or is doing, this usually costs £100s so my guess is they have done non. Im building a site with zola.com and its free plus you get the domain name free for two years as well yay!
Im selling my cakes primarily on FB at the minute without much success to be honest (please have a look and like...search: nappily-ever-afters)
So if anyone has any tips or advice it would be welcomed
Thanks xx
Hi Michelle
My advice on websites is to have one done properly if you are going to start a business selling nappy cakes, free websites are ok but you still have to face the issue of SEO (search engine optimization) if you don't have your website optimized then people just won't find you, resulting in no sales, plus there is more to a website than just adding your products and descriptions etc, if you intend to sell online you will need an eccommerce website with links to shopping baskets and pay-pal for payments etc, personally I didn't like any of the free websites because I was looking for a certain look, (if you click on my homepage it will open my website) mine didn't cost a fortune, I think a website tells your customer a lot about your business so just be careful with the free ones. Incidently, I can't even find Zola.com Jane0 -

Sorry typo its Yola.com. Its part of the get british business online initiative, and even gives you £30 ad words credits. It allows you to add ecommerce tools such as pay pal and will allow you to access dns to optimize searches. It even gives you step by step tutorials on how to use google webmaster tool etc. Its really very good0 -

Hi all :j
Love love love everybodys nappy cakes they are just beautiful i would have loved one when i had my babies
I have been making them at home, trying out different things and wanting to start it as a business as soon as i can, i was just wondering can anyone help me on the pricing of the cakes at all? Im not sure how much to charge for them i mean is there a standard amount to add on to what you have spent making them? I made a lovely 2 tier cake for £6 ish the other day and wondered how to make profit on something like that? I think i am having problems finding things cheap enough, esp teddies and blankets......
How do i get photos on here does anybody know? Ive only just registered0 -
Hi sarah I have started ordering through a warehouse so that I still get good quality items but at a better rate and some of the have started taking orders of min £50 when costing don't forget about the time it takes to make them so don't charge too little
