  • Hi

Does anyone know where I can get cheap cakeboards from. I have been using thin 12 inch round ones which cost me £1.25 for a pack of 2 at my local "cheapy" shop, but I bought them all and they haven't had any more since. Everywhere online seems to be £1.50 or more plus postage and can't find any reasonable priced ones in the shops anywhere.

If not, I am thinking about using thick cardboard, but again, need to make sure I can get it at the right price. I had tried cutting down boxes as we have loads since we moved house, but the card is too thick and it looks messy with the corrugated edge showing.

I have just made a website and I did have a facebook shop but I was paying 15 quid a month for that so now I just have the facebook page and the website for people to shop from. I only have limited stock at the moment for clothes and accessories but I wanted to see how it went before I got loads. I will be adding to it in the next couple of weeks but really I want to focus on the cakes. Maybe you could have a look at my pictures on there and tell me what you think? No laughing because there are 3 sample cakes which were my first attempts and the one with the name on is the one I have just sent off!! :)

The facebook page if you want to look is The Baby Locker

    xx

Website looks great, did you do that yourself? I have had one made costing me £50 a month (renting it rather thn buying out right) and not had one sale through it, so very dissapointed. I just dont feel they are doing their job properly. I have a facebook page too - sweet cheeks nappy cakes. Website of the same name.

I would like to set up a maternity/baby retail website, but its fundsand time holding me back.. How on earth do you do it with 6 kids!?!

Your cakes look good, you should be proud of yourself.

Hi SweetPea £1.25 for 2 is not bad. I get mine from a wholesaler and they cost about £5 for 10.

Hi there, I don't always use cake boards, but if I need to, I get them from Ebay

or I have in the past been able to buy the lightweight ones bakeries use, from a local bakery...hope this helps!

Beginning to think there is a baby boom just now, have been really busy since the start of the year, and I ony sell locally (not brave enough to risk posting) :0) Have a nice mix of pink & blue orders, and two for neutral hampers, plus a christening cake!

£50 a month thats alot im a 3rd year uni student doing webdesign and your website is really nice but i would never charge £50 a month for it, alot of companys charge xx amount per month because its easier to pay for some people rather than a one off payment of maybe £200 to £300 pounds but in the long run this £50 will end up costing you a fortune :(
