Speaking as a granny rather than a mum I used terry nappies for my daughter but also found disposables useful for days out and holidays so even though you dont use disposable usually they may have thought they would be useful for such times.

With regard to the "cheap tat" you do need to accept that people are different and even if you didnt want to use things you could have given them to a charity shop or similar where people who cant afford your high standards could get some use out of them.

I agree regarding cheap tat, I am new to nappy cake making, but have only been buying things for them that I would be happy using myself. It is pointless using rubbish as you will only get a bad name and repeat business and recommendations will be low. Better to go for quality and get good customer feedback. I will only be using Pampers or Huggies nappies in my cakes too.

I think this person obviously came on just to stir things up abit!

I`ve done 3 cakes in the last 2 days and have just had another one come in - all from word of mouth. It`s crazy when that happens - really quiet then 4 at once!!

Have just ordered some a bulk buy of fleecy baby blankets in blue and pink which should keep me going for awhile. Just the toys I need now ..

Homebargains had some of the official pooh, eeyore and piglet toys for £2.99 on tuesday if anyone has one nearby! They always seem to go down well!! Nearly £5 in normal shops!!

  • Hello everyone

I have just started making nappy cakes (as well as towel cakes and cupcakes) after creating a gift for a friend and her new baby. Ive read through the whole thread! Took me over a week! Lol. Anyway I am so pleased to have found this, Ive got some great info and tips and Im now really excited and confident to go forth and promote my business. I will post some pics as soon as the site allows me for your opinions.

Well mildred1978 I may as well end this debate on a high.

If you didnt "get" the nappy cakes idea, I find it odd as to why you would source the nappy cake thread after 8months

So after reading some of your posts on another thread maybe I can see why you dont like good old johnsons products OR hair brush set... is it because cleanliness isnt one of your priorities ..

And the fact that your falling over the nappies is surely your fault for not moving them in the first place .

Making home made gifts is a pure joy to some who are unable to go out to work or shop in high streets for other gifts... As you say you never have the time to go out yourself perhaps you would like to take up a hobby like this to occupy your mind and maybe then will you realise how much thought and time goes into some of these creations. AND as profit is very minimal its obvious we dont do it for the mass wages it will give us.

So I will sign off now and say no more as I need to go and make 3 nappy cakes for a high class shop whose customers really appreciate this kind of product even tho they have the wealth to shop anywhere

I hit "new posts" and it was at the top of the list, reminding me of the one I got. It's not a secret thread you know! :rotfl:

As reading comprehension clearly isn't a strong point for you I'll spell it out. My home was very untidy. I spend far more time ensuring my baby is clean, tidy and happy than my home. Nothing to do with cleanliness.

Or perhaps my feeling that it would be a waste to throw the 100 or so nappies away into landfill was to blame.

If I don't have time to go out, where would I magic the time up from for a hobby?! :rotfl:

Occupy my mind? It's hardly quantum physics! :rotfl:

£15+ profit per cake seems pretty good to me.
