I am afraid you will struggle to get a half decent price unless you bulk buy. I bought my boxes from their website can be a bit of a mare to navigate around but they are nice enough to talk to on the phone. I can't remember how much I paid for my boxes, but they worked out at a decent price each, although I did bulk buy!
I haven't posted in here for ages, moonpenny nice to see you
ETA: I use royal mail for smaller cakes and I use couriers for bigger ones!
Thank you! I have actually just ordered the boxes from asc direct online. I ordered some custom made ones in the end. They worked out to about £1.64 per box but that was including the delivery charge (£8something) I'm happy with that for now and the 25 should keep me going for some time! I will check out the company you use next time though to see if they're any cheaper.
I too was wondering if it was ok to fold over the cellophane at the top when packing them, I figured it would do no harm and possibly keep it all together.
Which couriers do you use or does it vary? The quotes I got online were pretty expensive. And one last question, does it cost you about £4.41 to post them with royal mail, that is the price that came up on the online price checker and I thought it seemed pretty cheap and am worrying I got something wrong!
Hollie - Do you find the boxes you get from the supermarkets are the correct sizes and are they still in good condition? Really good idea as I imagine they only get thrown away otherwise!
I've had my first order from a friend of mine which I'm aiming to make tomorrow whilst hubby's home to watch the children! I also made the same friend's little boy a christening nappy cake - she was delighted with it!0 -
Hi Liana83
Welcome! Can't help much with boxes I'm afraid as I have never posted out.
When I was looking into it a while ago I came across a good site where you can "build a box" to your spec. (However, it ends up a bit dearer than the one you mentioned for the size I put in) I did 700 high x 300 x 300 and it came out at £40.91 inc vat and delivery for 25. (about £1.63 each)
It's www.ascdirect.co.uk
Which site did you look at? Have seen other sites that do "tall" boxes but are usually too wide and I think that makes it costly for packing inside.
Anyway, like I said, I have never posted them so someone else might have better ideas.
Liana83 - So sorry, made a mistake on the quote for boxes above.
The price was for SINGLE walled boxes and I should have put in for DOUBLE walled. Obviously they then work out dearer.
However, I have trawled loads of sites and they still work out the cheapest.
What size did you end up ordering and did you go for single or double wall?0 -

Welcome and look forward to seeing your pics.
Pamper Cakes have been posted on this thread before but if you look on first page there is a thread for "Towel cakes"0 -
Hi Everyone
Not sure if anyone has already posted this recently, as I've not read the last few pages, but Matalan today had some ellies, lions, monkeys all reduced from £5.00 to £2.500 -
Hi - I've not been on the thread for ages but am doing well with my cakes! Have them stocked in a proper shop too!!
Regarding couriers - I use www.interparcel.com - they send a courier and they collect from you. They are very good and customer service is great. I usually pay around £6 and it although isn't guaranteed to arrive next day it usually does.0 -
Cute cake SallyUK :T
Brudie, can I ask you where you get your boxes from for posting and what size you use for 3 Tiers?
Thanks for the info on Couriers!
Good to hear you are doing well with your cakes - I'm "ticking" along but am thinking of changing design a little and perhaps going a bit smaller or put prices up a bit.
Am interested to know if other cake makers have changed their "style" since starting out! I find, they seem to evolve as time goes on.0 -
Hi everyone
I have now made and sold my 9th nappy cake(woo hoo....go me...!!!). My sales have been from friends and word of mouth but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to expand a bit. Obviously Im looking for a small steady flow of orders!
I really hadnt considered posting or anything like that was just thinking about raising my profile locally as there doesnt seem to be much competition.
Any ideas/thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
