New Nappy Cake

jill_b29, I try to get toys from birth where possible but the most I have gone up to is 12 months.
I started off at limiting myself to £3 per toy but now, it has crept up to the £6 mark sometimes.
I keep a look out for toys I like and then try and buy when there are sales or offers on. It means you have to pay out for stock when they are not needed at the time but it's worth it to get them cheaper.
Look in all the supermarkets (Asda used to do some lovely ones but not had much lately) Also, on the "baby" section there. Got some nice ones from Morrisons a while back.
I have previously got toys from M&S when they do the 3 for 2's and 20% off days and BHS have some nice ones in at mo in baby section at £5 (Again wait for reduction days)
The other place to look is the card shops.
After special days like Mothers day etc, they usually reduce these as they can't sell them with "Best Mum" etc on a scarfe or banner.
I have a good look if it can be removed without spoiling the toy and then add a ribbon bow instead.
Hope this has helped!0 -

twinklelittlestar wrote: »evening ladies. some really lovely cakes on here again. Wondered if anyone can give me a little advice. I know some of you present a single sock "cupcake" in a little case on top of your nappy cakes. What i wanted to ask is has anyone found a way of securing the silicone cupcake cases to the top of a nappy cake. I already use them in a cake box and know that it is hard to get anything to really stick to it (apart from glue) I am really worried that it will just roll about otherwise. Any advice greatly appreciated. TIA x
Just posting this again in case anyone has the solution. I am looking for a way of keeping a silicone cupcake case on the top of a nappy cake (1 tier) I know I have seen them like this on quite a few other cakes. Thanks in advance0 -

Have you tried glue dots? As long as you place the cases on blankets, bottle lids or vests etc, and not the actual nappies, then they shouldn't get damaged when they're removed. The Nappy Cake Baker Association is on Facebook.0
