I 'swirled' mine quite tight to get the shape and then let it sort of expand before I put the elastic (was actually fishing line lol) round, this left me plenty of space to fit in the shampoo and bath stuff etc

Mine too! I haven't actually completed one yet. My friend is due in a couple of weeks so i have been taking my time and shopping around for 'ingredients'. I have done the structure (following one of many tutorials on YouTube) and the bottom tier is 12 inches diameter. That's why I enquired about the cake boards, I had to buy a 14" board as a base for it. It's quite heavy! The Nappy Cake Baker Association is on Facebook.0 -
I use 12 inch boards.
20 Nappies on bottom, 10 middle, 6 top. I replace 1 nappy in bottom tier and 1 in top tier with something else or it would be 38 used. (I use 36)
I also put stuff in the middle. I still roll mine at the moment.0 -
i dont ever use cake boards, only for my pampers cakes sometimes if i have to put a bottle of something heavy through the middle0

JoJo, I have always uses Pampers newborn size 2 and you are right - they are quite thin.
When I first started I tried a few (always newborn size 2) Boots own make were quite thick and Tesco were even thicker. Didn't think they should be so thick for a new baby so stuck with Pampers.
Keep thinking I will try Huggies but can't seem to find them. Which ones do you use?0 -

I've always used Huggies size 3 unless i have requests for others, mainly because they sit better in cakes (more solid) & i also prefer huggies on my kids. As both are still in nappies i have so many nappies in this house!0
