    Hi girls

Just had my 1st cake order in ages. :) Was beginning to wonder if I'd wasted all of my money on the stock I have.

Was wondering how much profit you all make on your cakes. I average about £10 but have picked up loads of bargains over the months. If I have to pay full price for something I'll be lucky to break even.

Found a good bargain in boots today http://www.boots.com/en/Huggies-Newborn-Changetime-box_861757/

Could anyone possibly point me in the direction of a 'how-to' on how to tie a bow round a nappy cake? Mine look absolutely rubbish- I can't even get the loops to go next to each other never mind look straight despite loads of fiddling!!

Also, does anyone have any tips on where to buy cheap ribbon? I have only just started this so all I have is white but I want to stock up!

Thanks in advance- you are all very talented people!

Have you tried your local florist "suppliers" for ribbon?

Sorry can't advise on tying ribbon as mine is a hit or a miss.

    Hi katiesmummy

I nearly always "glue gun" a bow on separately after I have put the ribbon around the cake. If you want to tie it around cake, just pull it a bit tighter and knot then tie your bow. I find the bows work out better if you tie them "upside down" when already on cake. (Lean over cake from back)

It's hard to describe without pics (Bows) but here goes.
Make 2 loops and then cross and pass one under the other like you would tie a normal bow. Don't pull tight but pull cut ends so you have just small loops.
(You only pull tight when the bow is exactly right)

This is the important bit -while its a bit loose just fiddle with it slightly and it will sort of turn by itself into the perfect bow with the loops where they should be. (It kind of flips the other way)
Before you pull it tight, make the loops slightly smaller than you want because when you tighten it, they will get bigger. You can loosen and pull tight again if not right. Hope I havn't confused you!

If you use a glue gun, don't forget to put card behind so glue doesn't go through.
