Sounds perfect Helen, and even if you don't sell any nappycakes on the day, it's great advertising for follow on orders! Good luck with it!

Check out this page from the forum for ideas...the cupcake socks are really easy to do!

About to wrap my first nappy cake in cellophane - do I fold in the sides first and stick with tape before I gather in the top. Still not happy with the couple of bows I've tried to make after watching You Tube. Might sweet talk the florist into making a couple when I buy my ribbon.

I use the tube method to wrap mine...you measure round the base and cut your cellophane a couple of inches wider, then cellotape the seam together and drop it down over your completed nappycake, leaving enough at the bottom to tape under the base of your cake (I pleat mine as I go and it gives a nice neat finish) I tie off the top before I finish the base, and I use pull bows also for the top, have only ever made one when I ran out!....You can wrap the way you suggest, but it uses more cellophane and I personally find it harder to get a neat finish...but go with whatever works for you

Thanks Cazo, the way I was trying to do it I had loads of cellophane at the sides and it did not look good. I was trying to figure it out how everyone else does it by looking at photos. Will give your suggestion a try. All I seem to be doing at the moment is wasting loads of ribbon and cellophane !!
I have been looking at the pull bows on Ebay...do you suggest 30mm or 50mm ones ? Sorry, I am a bit hopeless.
    Thanks

I think we all waste lots when we start off...through time you pick up tips that save time & energy lol! I don't use cake boards now either unless it's for a very big nappycake....I used to hate wrapping my creations especailly if I had a few to do at once, a roll of cellophane could reduce me to a nervous wreck! I use the smaller size pull bows on most of my cakes as I thought the bigger ones were a bit over the top on the one and two tiers...only use a large one when I have a three or four tier one....you're not hopeless at all, we all start off by asking questions, and everyone is really helpful on here so don't be afraid to shout if you're stuck...hth

Vikki_louise, I sell mine mini cakes for £9.99, have sold a few now. Handy for fairs / stalls as they're not too expensive.

Afternoon ladies, hope you all had a good weekend.

Quick question about insurance. If i'm just planning to sell from home and maybe the odd fete etc, should i get insurance to cover myself?
Also what companies are best to go to, any favs?
    Thanks in advance :0)
