I roll for the middle of each tier but swirl round the outside to fill them out to the right width

Can I ask everyone, what size socks do you use for cupcakes? (Never made any before!) and where do you buy them from?

I tried some 0-0 from Tesco and they were a bit too small so bought next size up and they look massive. (they are the long ones that turn over at the top)

As I use 0-3 mths clothes in all my cakes, I didn't really want to go onto another size.

    Hiya,

I normally use 0-21/2 because i found 0-0 only lased about 6 weeks with my son however the next size is until 12 months ish! So the cupcakes can be sold for a larger age group! I also use the long tesco ones and find them a god size when using 1 pair per cupcake.

  • hiya ladies, im new on money saving expert and have been browsing this thread for well over 2 weeks now :) i think what you ALL do is fantastic!!!
    the cakes are absoutley beautiful!
anyway i made a nappy cake 2 years ago for my sister-in-law, she absoloutley loved it! i also made one for scbu at my hospital for them to give away in a raffle, then i stopped making them as a i set up my own small cleaning business so all my energy was going into making my business work, to cut a long story short..i did the cleaning business for a full year and had to give it up, it wasnt working out as well as it first did, (with the recession, people having lack of money) not many people could afford a cleaner! so i wasnt making a decent earning from it, but hey ho i didnt enjoy it anyway so in a way im glad i suppose :) i now have 3 part time jobs (adding to 45 hours per week) but am in the process of saving to open a hairdressers :) (having my own business is my life ambition lol)
so after reading this thread i am starting up nappy cakes again as a little extra money earner, not only that but i enjoy making them :)
somerfields were i live is closing down for a fortnight ready to change into co-op so they have most stock reduced!! i picked up winnie the pooh character wash mitts yesterday supposed to be £2.49 each down to 75p each!!! needless to say i filled my basket up with them lol
keep up the brill work ladies and look forward to talking soon xxx

    thanks! jojo_saphire,

That's a good point about the bigger ones appealing to a bigger market (age-group)

I liked the Tesco ones too. The Asda ones, size 0-0 are really big and they filled the cases perfectly but I wasn't sure about "Asda" printed on the bottom.

    Hi all

I've just been asked to make a nappy cake with reusable nappies! The budget is only around £20 so I'll have to search out the best bargains possible for this one. Has anyone made on with reusables? Anyone know of any good stockists?

You will find it hard they are really expencive! Maybe try suggesting bio-degradable ones for emergency / out and about use??
