  • Morning s23xy_c - I buy a lot of stuff from e-bay - usually listed under the "wholesale" section - i think there's a lot of people in the uk without access to the bigger supermarkets and shops, so everything seems to go!
If you have a paypal account -even better - you get instant payment.

You could always send me a photo too!:D

Katsu - lovely cake - amazing for a first one! Love the way you have arranged all the extras on the outside - I can never get mine to look balanced or neat so I resort to hiding my things inside! I like the first photo of the unwrapped cake best!

Thanks for the photo opinion lastminutej - I want to build a portfolio of things I can do. I'm not sure what I will do with the portfolio but want to show my work the best I can. It would be nice to make the odd gift now and again.

I need to do 2 wedding cakes within the next couple of months. 1 more extravagant than the other. I've looked at the pictures in the recent pages, but what else can I put in there? I was thinking towels, champagne, chocolates....and then I get stuck...

    LOL. :)

I wrap my nappies in blankets, hooded towels and muslin cloths - occasionally I use a vest, bib or flannel but I find it quite tricky to make it look smooth with these.
Some people leave the nappies uncovered and just add ribbon - I prefer the covered option, plus I can never find plain nappies!

Thanks lastminutej. Do you use a plastic bag or sheets of cellophane to put the completed cake in? My bag had corners that showed around the round base, so I wondered what to do next time.

    Hi
Just finished a one tier blue and pink cake, what do you think? I am struggling with my neutral one as my teddy is too hard lol!! I need a nice soft brown one for less than £3.50 and about 8" tall similar to the two I have here if anyone has any ideas? Ideally to purchase in multiples!

    Sorry about the pic sizes!!

I use cellophane and am yet to master the art properly!! I manage to wing it most of the time! Your cake looked fab by the way!

Katsu...you could attach some cellotape to the corners of the bag and pull them under the base....I use cellophane for wrapping, using the tube method, but getting the base neat can be a nightmare sometimes, at least you won't have that problem if you use a bag!
